It's not very flashy, but at the time I remember being mesmerized by Panic Room's credits. Having the text floating in front of buildings was brilliant. Of course, Fringe now does it on a weekly basis - but I still love it.

casino royale's opening credits are pretty superb on blu ray, really striking on a big enough display, vivid colours and designs and daniel craigs eyes really stand out at the end of the sequence.

That is pretty classic.

I can get behind Watchmen and Fight Club too.

My favorite would be Soylent Green. Loved the music and the montage, does a great job of setting up the film.

How about the Vincent Price "Cry of the Banshee" (1970), with titles by an odd young unknown animator named...Terry Gilliam?

Shaun of the Dead has a pretty good open credit scene, but personally I prefer it when it just shows the film title over a black screen then the movie starts with no other credits.

The newer Dawn of the Dead one was pretty cool I thought, with Johnny Cash playing while showing the madness of riots etc.

Delicatessen -- the credits are seen in the debris of a post war world, and it's humorous, too. For instance, on an old SLR camera is the name of the cinematographer, the composer on the label of a broken record, and so on. You can see it here -- http://www.vimeo.com/1721818

Psycho -- I always loved the Bernard Herrman score synced with the shattered lettering by Saul Bass.

I love the credits for Juno. I love the transition of the real Juno to the "animated" Juno and I LOVE the song that goes with it! It really is a catchy song!

Haven't had time to see if it was already mentioned in the thread, but if we open it up to Japanese anime, "Robot Carnival" deserves some sort of honorable mention:
