T2 is a fantastic film but does it have a moment like that in terms of personal performance? |

T2 > First Blood > The Terminator That's my personal opinion, to each their own. |

T2 is indeed a fantastic film, as is Terminator. However, in terms of acting chops...I personally feel that Schwarzenegger doesn't hold a candle to Stallone.
Despite the fact that I believe Schwarzenegger has a more entertaining filmography under his belt as a whole, Stallone still comes out ahead. |

Stallone has also been nominated for three Academy Awards in his career and may even win won for Creed. If that holds water with anyone, it supports how his acting and screenwriting has been recognised. Personally, I think I like T1 over T2 (the horror of the first film is relentless). Schwarzenegger has indeed starred in some of the most entertaining films I have seen (T2 one of the best sequels ever). |

Stallone - Arnold does too much collateral damage for the sake of killing whatever he hates or misunderstands whereas Stallone tends to fight for others, helping the weak. Stallone is ultimately more of a true hero and less of a gun-toting badass.

I give Arnold the vote.
What I love him in: Predator, The Running Man, Commando, Terminator, T2: Judgement Day, Jingle All the Way (hey, you came for Arnold and stayed for the great christmas movie with Sinbad and Phil Hartman...you know you did), Last Action Hero, Total Recall, End of Days, Conan the Barbarian, Conan the Destroyer, True Lies, Kindergarten Cop, Eraser, Red Heat, The 6th Day, Collateral Damage... Total: 17 What I love Stallone in: Rocky I thru Creed (which is 7), Expendables 1 thru 3 (3), Rambo: First Blood thru Rambo (4), Demolition Man, Judge Dredd, Cliffhanger, The Specialist, Tango & Cash, Assassins Total: 20 Stallone has more movies in this list, but the bulk are just reprised roles. Arnold gets the favor for having more individual movies. And yes, he does cameo in the Expendables trilogy, but they were more Stallone's movies and he was a guest, so it's why I listed them in Stallone's court. So...Arnold all the way. |

It depends what you're measuring them by to be honest. For me, Stallone has had the longer career of 50+years. Amazing. He's a writer, producer and director of merit. Rocky being the prime example and a film series that has continued indirectly into 8 films (although with others involved in writing/directing at times). That's a film series that started in 1976! His career has spanned many roles, including Rambo (a series that started in 1982!) and is still with us. The name Rambo became synonymous with the action hero, the undefeatable American. Then there's The Expendables franchise and how he produced that and brought other actions stars into the fold for another lease of life. His action films have largely always been entertaining, from the 1980s into the 1990s with films like Cliffhanger, Demolition Man. More than that though, he's a sorely underrated actor. Just watch Rocky (first film particularly), the end monologue in First Blood, his role in Cop Land and more recently Creed. As a physical actor he's an icon as well and always 110% committed to getting in shape for the role. He was never a bodybuilder in the competitive sense like Schwarzenegger, but hired and worked with renowned body builder Franco Columbu for his 80s films. The film Rocky Balboa showed that more recently, the shape he got into at his older age. He's been nominated for an Academy Award for his role as Rocky (twice) and for writing the first film's screenplay. Both Schwarzenegger and him are icons of the action genre. Possibly Schwarzenegger at his peak popularity (1984 - 1995) had the most entertaining films but personally, I think the Rocky ones beat that. How Schwarzenegger made it as a star (then into politics) is likewise an amazing and inspiring story, but like I said, he's not to my knowledge a writer, director or producer. His serious acting has never been quite as good as Stallone. Could you see Schwarzenegger in Cop Land? You could argue that was the film The Last Stand. It went for a different tone and audience, but I just think Stallone is the better actor overall. |
