So can't wait for this. Over the years Chris Pratt became one of my favorites. I'm excited to see him become a breakout star!

Did anyone else feel like James Gunn was playing homage to Bub in "Day of the Dead" when the guard puts on Star-Lord's headphones in the prison? The look on the alien's face and the way he played off total naivety to the technology seemed like it to me. I don't know if it's just me though...

You mean Hot Toys. Sideshow just distributes them in the US.

Just saw the trailer. I love how the characters look. And I do like that it's trying to be fun and light. Humors and just general fun in the Avengers and Iron Man were great.

But I'm not too thrilled with the jokes that are in the trailer. Didn't find any of them to be funny. Him getting upset with the walkman and all the others is just... let's just say I hope there are better moments in the movie... or maybe it will be funnier if viewed within the movie context and not just trailer.

I'm not really impressed with this director's filmography (especially since he was one of the director of Movie 43) But I like the visual of the movie so far, and hope it surprises me. I really want to enjoy this movie.

If there's one thing that shouldn't be held against him, it's 'Movie 43'. That movie has a ton of great talent and all of them walked away from it, thankfully unscathed, considering what garbage it was. But that's not one person's fault.

And counting Lloyd Kaufman, "Tromeo & Juliet" wasn't really either. But still.

If we're blacklisting people based on their participation in Movie 43, then we'd have to include about a third of Hollywood.

Personally, I think they both have their ups and downs. The worst - well, most lackluster - film in the Potter series (Chamber of Secrets) is about the same to me as the most lackluster of the MCU (Incredible Hulk). And the best of Potter (Azkaban) is on a par with the best of MCU (Avengers). In between there's some greats and some good/very good ones. So both franchises are about equal to me, though MCU has the benefit of variety.
Remind me later

But yeah they do both have their strong points and weak points, but MCU trumps for me. Even if we just judge on the first 8 movies

Hang on, let me get this out of my system ...

... INSANE ... RIDICULOUS ... AWESOME ... INSANELY RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME ...

I just caught the trailer and I have got to see this movie. At first, I didn't think this movie would be all that great but after seeing the first trailer, Jason is cool, Rocket is hilarious, Groot goes beyond words and Draw = WINNING.

Out of all of the movie trailers for past Marvel films, this one has got to be the best, clever movie trailer made for a Marvel superhero movie. OH-HO-HO! I'm excited and I want to see this movie NOW!

Re: The Walkman.

The movieverse Star-Lord was taken from Earth at age 8 and raised in space. His Walkman is probably the only piece of his home world that he still has. So he's fiercly protective of it. It makes sense on that level.

I'm curious what other songs are on that mix tape. I wonder if they'll all be included as a soundtrack.

Exactly!

A lot of people are freaking out about not enjoying the jokes, when they are most likely taken out of context.

well you got to look at all of their body of work, and since he didn't really direct that much, it is part of it. Lot of other people have other body of work that negates that movie. And I fault the director & writers more than actors if movie is bad or good, (he is also one of the writers of Movie 43 ).
And I didn't judge him just for Movie 43, he was also writer of Scooby-Doo 1&2. And I didn't really like Super that much either. I did enjoy Slither, but I wouldn't put that in top of the genre either.

And I'm not blacklisting this director/writer. All I'm saying is that he hasn't impressed me yet. But I'm hopeful that he will surprise me.

So yet another comic book gets turned into a comedy and some of the dialogue is really crinch worthy to. But the mindless people are likely gonna eat it up with a spoon

I am definitely NOT impressed

The people who complain about the tone and the feel of the trailer have clearly never read the 'Guardians' comics...Because this is pretty much as spot on in tone as you can possibly be. It's tongue and cheek, because it knows it's ridiculous! I'd much rather have a fun, lighter, film, than a film that takes itself too seriously to the point that it's not enjoyable.
