I enjoyed this but have to agree with some, it felt needlessly long. And the ending was little more than Scorsese disappearing up his own ass. But like I say, I thought it was a very well made and interesting film.

Just watched this. The movie had potential to be truly great but everything seemed off. Too long for what Scorcese wanted to convey, and average acting for the most part. DeNiro looked too comical to take serious, but he did his best I suppose. Lily did a great job. Also, it was unfortunate that Scorcese caved into peer pressure from DiCaprio to make Ernest the lead, when he should have made Lily the lead, if he really champions the Osage plight here. Overall, it was good, but not great.

Martin Scorsese’s Family Pictures
Not the nicest family portrait album. And not truly a love affair. It's more like taking care of financial business than taking care of family. It's a sordid business, a sick disturbance of American history; killing for money. There's zero love in this, less than zero. Exploitation, extortion to the max. ...Down to the gates of hell and back. It's like sticking sticks of dynamite under the toilet's seat, and lit the wick under someone's ass, a family member under care. Read the article, unconditionally. |

The L.A. Critics Group went in a completely different direction.
Neither "Oppenheimer" nor "Killers of the Flower Moon" received a single thing. They went with Jonathan Glazer's acclaimed, "The Zone of Interest" for Best Picture and Director. They have only one gender-neutral category for acting, now, so they gave two actesses, Sandra Huller and Emma Stone, Best leads; and they gave Da'Vine Joy Randolph and Rachel McAdams Best Supporting. No males won. "Poor Things" got Emma Stone half of Best Actress, and it won Cinematography. Last edited by dkelly26666; 12-11-2023 at 03:12 PM. |

very good movie. i suspect the aim was to shed light on the osage plight, which many, including myself, were ignorant of. not my absolute favorite of the year, but top 3 for sure.

this shouldn’t be a surprise. there are a ton of movies that made a lot of money and found new life or a second life on home video. (which pvod basically is trying to emulate)

Then, they reached Pay Per View (streaming of that time) and DVD, and they both blew up into huge numbers on home video, and later cable. I know this film will find a long shelf life with home viewing. |

I watched it last night and yeah it was a Scorsese-ass film. Had the very familiar style and structure from Goodfellas or Casino.
Didn't really feel the long runtime. Great acting, interesting and shocking story but I wish we got more Mollie scenes. |

This was another Scorsese by numbers picture. Scorsese is a talented director, but he never really distinguishes himself and all of his movies feel the same. While certainly fine for what they are, they aren't exactly that great either. I much prefer his work over many modern directors, but I still wish he would venture out of his comfort zone more often.

It is what it is; Marty is the Teflon of gang filmmakers.
Killers of the Flower Moon is an important film for all. It's a true story that has to be made as a film for the sake of history from the culture of America in performing the arts of the deal. Without Marty's films the world would be worse off. He shows a true face in man's deeper soul. It's not a pretty face; it's full of greed and control and violence. |

I agree with you there. I just wish Marty would diversify every now and then.
