It was also a disputed statistic by Netflix itself. Neilsen only tracks TV viewership; Netflix is viewed via many devices, not just TVs, and hence why they are contesting that statistic.
Is this really that hard for you to comprehend? Put down your damn phone and really try to concentrate here. ![]() |

Some may have chosen to watch it on their phones, their tablets, their desktops, their projectors, or even in groups with any device that Neilsen did not, or could not, accurately measure. Only Netflix knows how many times that episode was played and even that does not reveal how many people were present to watch any given playback of it. 1 person could have been in the room or a dozen; they would have no way of knowing. The bottom line is that Netflix has openly contested Neilsen's statistic. Last edited by Vilya; 07-15-2019 at 05:13 PM. |

Ok - so I've trimmed out a good deal of the back and forth from yesterday, with any posts that contained personal digs, nicknames or general silliness being culled. Unfortunately that means a few posts with pertinent content have been lost, but I really don't have the time to pick out the good parts of sour posts. Anyhow, going forward can we keep the discussion of each other civil and to a minimum, but that isn't to say the thread should be devoid of some healthy banter. Have fun.

More censorship of digital:
https://tvline.com/2019/07/15/13-rea...moved-netflix/ Fortunately they can't edit any of the DVDs they've already released. |

^^Yeah, but it is understandable and they could recall the existing discs for censored ones. Most of us are old enough to remember Body Counts cd being removed from stores due to the controversy or their song. Cop Killer. So censorship isn’t solely a digital concern.

No, like that cd back in the day, it would just drive up the secondary market price wherever it can be found. Although we didn’t have eBay, Amazon, etc and had to get it from a record store. Those who were crazy times

Eh, is it, or is it that it supports your point of view? I’m sure someone else could equally come up with ways physical has been altered or censored. I know there are plenty of people in multiple threads that bemoan because the original music or look was altered. For me, censorship, whether it is digital or physical is bad. No matter the well intentions behind them.

I am glad to see that the thread has been reopened; for awhile late last night it looked as if the thread had been permanently deleted. During that time, my total post count dropped sharply reflecting its absence. I was surprised by just how much of my total post activity was in this thread alone, about 40%.
![]() ![]() ![]() I am no fan of censorship, no matter how good the intentions are behind it. Life inherently carries the risk of being offended. When I encounter content that I deem to be in poor taste, I respond by choosing the action that is best for me; I can skip the offensive part, grin and bear it, or jettison the entire program, but I would never expect my choice to be forced upon anyone else. Herein lies one of the single biggest reasons why I am a staunch supporter of physical media. The content I purchase on disc can not be retroactively altered to accommodate the ever changing "etch-a-sketch" community standards of what is deemed appropriate at any given moment. Censoring digital content is too easy to do and it happens far too often. Even if the quality of digital streamed content ever equaled that of the corresponding disc format, I would still not buy it for the above reasons alone. I expect my purchases to remain unchanged in their content, today and tomorrow, and I resolutely reject digital purchases because changes can be made to such content at will. Yes, but how many movies, and to a lesser extent, shows released altered from how they originally were? Sure, you are correct, nothing can be altered after your purchase, but to be fair, this is a show that is streaming and not a digital copy per say. It is more inline with a cable series. And before you start, I know that people claim their digital copies have been altered. I can tell you one of the reasons I stopped solely redeeming in iTunes is because they wouldn’t give me my unrated version of Bridesmaids when my computer got wiped
