PSVR2, I wonder how it sold during the holiday week of Thanksgiving in the US at 350 instead of 499+? That was the lowest price ever for the console so far since its release in late February 2023.

I kept thinking it was too early to release it back in 2023 and to wait till late 2024 (now), but at 549, it was always going to be a niche add on product for VR fans. I'm a VR PSVR1 fan, but the price has to be lower, around 300 seems more fair. Sony clearly had to price it higher due to smaller quantities produced probably, much like PS5 Pro at 699 plus 100+ for all the add ons. That's an investment compared to the good old days when consoles were in the 189 to 399 range. PS5 499. Inflation affected a lot fast.

There aren't many PS5 games that are compatible. For instance, Hot Wheels Unleashed doesn't support any wheels.
Thanks.
That's good, glad it's holding up well for GT7. That's true that many games require the programmers to create wheel support.
I think a lot of the simulation themed driving games and bus games/truck games support wheel support. But not VR games.

The timing of the release was fine. There was a lot of buzz about it when it was released. The price was the problem. Sales skyrocketed during the lower price promotion earlier this year, ground to a hault when it went back up and has skyrocketed again during this holiday sale. I was right about the price then and right about the price now. I am always right about this stuff. But, Sony missed their window of getting big AAA developers developing games for it. They screwed themselves out of royalties and they screwed early adopters.

Just like the PS5 Pro. Too high and, I don't care what the news sites say. I can guarantee you that Sony isn't happy with the sales numbers for the PS5 Pro nor will they be in the long term.

Price is crucial, especially in a not great economy of 2024 with the insane
[Show spoiler]inflation on food and everything else which suddenly spiked in 2022, it was right after the Ukraine war started. That is when the oil barrel companies spiked their fuel prices and then everything else goes up. The cost to transport diesel truck trailers is unbelievable. If regular fuel is 4, Diesel is 6 or more per gallon.

Low sales is usually a good indicator of the price being more than most are willing to pay, agreed.

Plus many got a taste of what VR was with PSVR1, and if that enthusiasm wore off once, many gamers let it fade after seeing that steep 549 intro price for PSVR2.

So I guess VR isn't like riding bike. At least not for me. I tried playing a bit this week for the first time in 3 months and I got super nauseous after about 15 minutes. It was like I never had my VR legs. It really makes me wonder if I'll keep the headset since I don't want to go through the acclamation process every time I take a break.

You have to ground yourself. I had the same issue with my FPV Drone.. Either sit down or have something heavy leaning on your leg. With my FPV, I lean against a pole, but can't do that with VR, I have a leg up against my couch.

But lately, I've only been sitting down with my VR

Playing HL:Alyx was what worked for me when I first got VR. I was struggling with PS5 games but Alyx is just so well designed that it completely built up my tolerance. I was then able to play stuff like RE4 and Village with no issue. Was hoping it would be like that after the break—and I even tried something fairly lowkey with Red Matter 2–but it didn’t go well. I do think I’ll try standing up. That’s how I initially acclimated the first time and I may need to do it again.

Wait!!?!?

Were you getting "super nauseous" while sitting? My Little advice was for when I was standing. My first time feeling that way was with my drone, and I almost fell off of my porch.... lol

From that porch incident, I normally sit or lean.

Yeah, I was surprised. After being able to comfortably play fast-paced VR games standing or seated, I was hoping that acclimation would come right back. I was only able to play about 15 minutes of Red Matter 2, which is pretty slow-paced, before I was sweating and feeling awful. I had played the first Red Matter and a few hours of the sequel a few months ago with no issues at all. But seems like I'm back to square one with my VR legs.

I bought one of these for my brother as a Christmas gift. Hope he likes it. My parents bought him a nice reclyner so I guess he can kick back in it while wearing the head set. I am going to check his out before I see about getting one for myself because I have really debilitating vertigo and I am not sure how I would react.

That's true, I still have to re-adapt each time I try games like RE7 VR or games with fast movements or jumping.

That's cool. I have PSVR1 and like it and still own it, playing a few times a year these days. I get nausea while reading a book in a moving vehicle going around turns and up hills or down hills. So those kinds of movements in VR make me dizzy too, but worst of all would be jumping in VR. I jump in the game, flying through the air and then suddenly the landing stops the screen, and within seconds I'm feeling dizzy and almost like regurgitating. Not fun and I have to stop playing immediately or it will only get worse.

Only solution is to go really slow, and I close my eyes when I jump in the game until landing.

Hopefully the one you bought this for does well with it. It really is amazing and can be very memorable for video gaming in VR. It's like entering a new world almost. Eventually all amazement fades, but still really cool to see VR.

My favorite games that I have zero issues with are Moss and Astrobot VR.

Now that I finally finished Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D remake, I have started Metro Awakening. Not really digging it so far. Basically kind of stressful with not enough ammo for mutant encounters. Shooting is hard. Reloading is a major pain, as is healing. And stealthing the human sections is much harder than in the non vr games. I might have to knock the difficulty down to easy. The atmosphere is right and faithful to the other games, just some of the vr implementation I'm not a fan of yet. I wish there was an option to automate some of this stuff rather than having to do it all manually.

I got Behemoth during the Christmas break, about to fire it up. Have been on flat games for ages and ready to try some VR. I've heard/seen good things. I also just got Arken Age which just came out this week and also getting some great reviews as being like the ultimate in VR or something.

For those with PSVR2, is the flow of new game releases still consistent, or has it sped up or slowed down recently? Hopefully it's doing well, plus the addition of the PC VR games.

I had been looking forward to Behemoth, Alien, and Metro, but I've got to say that after watching some gameplay after they released I'm not too interested in playing any of them. Arken Age looks solid but now that I know I need to re-acclimate to VR after every time I take a break, I'm feeling very deflated about the prospects of returning to VR at all.

I really enjoyed the headset for the few months when I was playing regularly and I got to play stuff like Alyx and RE4. I'm feeling like it might be a one-and-done thing for me. But I'm hanging onto the headset for now. I still have quite a few games I bought during my initial phase of enthusiasm. Maybe I'll replay Alyx some day to re-acclimate and finish off my VR library then.

Metro is better now that I'm more used to it. I jsut wish there were options for healing or reloading with a button push instead of manually having to do it yourself. I just can't do it fast in the midst of a firefight. The game is also a real mind ****. The other Metro games had some strange stuff in them but nothing like
[Show spoiler]the reality manipulation
that is a central theme in this story.

Not sure. I never got too into it. In fact, I almost forgot I even bought the game since I picked it up right before I decided to take a break from VR. Maybe next time I put on the headset I'll try out GT.

I finished Metro Awakening but I don't think I want to do another playthrough. Hardcore trophy will be very stressful for me, and the trophy for never getting seen sounds close to impossible and also bugged for a lot of people. A good experience and worth the money but I don't really care to play it again. I play the new GTA Vr demo and that was ok but I don't really like racing anyway. Also you have to sue the Dualsense, the Sense controllers don't even work! Well I'm going to go back to Life is Strange: Double Exposure now. So wraps my VR playing for the year lol.

For the year?!?!? It just started.... lol

I have a few more older titles i will be playing before Metro or Behemoth!

I loved Star Wars tales from the galaxy's edge and gotten all buy 1 trophy. In the middle of Resident Evil Villiage and I might play RE4, just not sure yet. Call of the mountain is next, and hopefully I will know if Behemoth or Metro is next.

I actually gotten into the whole VR more than expected.

Probably is. I try to avoid VR 8 months of the year because of the wasps possibility and I have like 3 non VR games I really need to catch up on right now. The Alien game was the only other thing I was really thinking about. Call of the Mountain is good but it's like half Horizon half climbing simulator.
