So you're saying credit card/financial companies are now extending credit to just about anyone regardless of credit score just so they can charge high interest rates? And here I was thinking I was improving my score.

And LOL at people who have recurring outstanding balances having high credit scores. I guess I don't feel guilty anymore about not being able to bring my balance on my CHASE card down a reasonable amount month after month

yes, but it would cost way too much to have something custom-made to my specifications. especially with my limited funds, currently.

Speaking of bags, I've been looking for a good, waterproof backpack lately thing is everything I find either hasn't been reviewed or costs >$100. Any one have suggestions?

You started with season 3? If you haven't seen season 1, IMO it's the absolute best of the seasons. Every time I rewatch it I hear or see something new that goes unnoticed or under the radar. In all seasons there is so much going on at once, stuff in the background ect that it's one show that multiple watches is necessary.

Anyone here have experience dealing with landlords? I signed a one-year lease 3 years ago for a one bedroom apartment. In 3 years my rent was raised just once. When I asked to be sent a renewed lease I was told they didn't send out renewed leases and that my original lease is all there is. Does this sound right?

Sounds like you are no longer bound by a lease, and they aren't either.
So technically you are renting on a month to month basis.

Depending on what is written in the lease these people have, I can't tell you
if you should stay lease free or not.

But in general being lease free is a good thing

pretty much the truth, here.

except that without a lease they can tell you to get out at any time and with no warning. that's the big downside of no lease.

but another upside is you can leave whenever you want without warning.

i personally wouldn't stay anywhere without one (unless i was just crashing at someone's house for a while if i had to), but you're an adult and can do what you feel is right in your situation. but it's always good to have other ideas.

That's just the thing - I live in fear of being told to vacate at any given moment and I won't have a choice. I have very little savings and will likely see myself in a heap of trouble if this happens. I'd rather have the security of having a valid lease than the option to move out at my leisure. Should I insist on getting a new lease? By the way, I have a near-perfect record of paying my rent on time so it's not like I'm a deadbeat. Would this lessen my odds of being asked to vacate unexpectedly?

I would lean towards a new lease and would definitely review the terms on it first

reading back over this, it kind of sounds like they may be using your old lease as a continuing lease. obviously you'd want to find out about it and get a proper answer, but it just sounds like that, to me.

so i would maybe ask them if your original lease is still valid since it was only for 1 year. and if so, then why they don't want to send out a renewed lease. that one year lease has to have dates on it. and if it wasn't renewed, then the older dates are no longer valid. and tell them you just want to make sure that you're both still covered under a proper lease agreement.

also, be careful not to come off as complaining but rather as you're looking out for their interests as mush as your own. also, if you can, record the conversation if it's done in person or save any emails or other communications you have with them.

I only paid for one night at our hotel and our room was sold from us.
😢

The Ramada put us in a suite for the same price as our king room. Living room, two bathrooms and a jacuzzi...yay!!
😊

The night I proposed to my wife, we were upgraded to a suite for free, I think the same thing happened with us. Had a great view of Times Square.

i'm wondering what the difference is between "decades" and "even longer", i.e. "50-60 years".

i'm watching a video and this guy is talking about something "lasting decades...even longer...like 50-60 years".

uummm....50-60 years IS decades. so how can 50-60 years be longer than decades?

Sounds like he’s just ballparking it, and the "even longer" could mean 61 or 62, which would then be 11 or 12 years, hence longer than a decade.

Without the source video, we can’t know for sure.

I was gonna post that I felt bad about the crack/meth head that was doing his thing by the dumpster 40 meters from our room. But I’d probably get attacked with “You don’t know the facts! He could’ve been stung by a bee and was trying to get his EpiPen out!” or something like that.

Instead I’ll say what’s on my mind is that I wasted our time in this suite by not using the jacuzzi. They’re moving us again, into our third room in as many days.
Next time I’ll book fo our whole stay in a hotel. Very pleasant people to deal with though!
😊
