Just watched desolation of Smaug. Good movie, good 3D and a great workout for the sub when the dragon speaks!

@ Mr Spock, looks like you have a lot of watching to do, a lot of them are unopened! Same here, but mine are all opened, especially if the have a digital code. I'll see if i can post a pic of my collection.

I can't find a thread for this but I watched Best of The Ultimate Collection 2013 3D. It's 2.5 hours of various 3D spectacles. Mostly nature and landscape type stuff. A big underwater section. There were a few short films (one of which had barely any 3D so I don't know why it was there). A dumb magic show, and then a lot of scenes from some surfing documentary. Overall the 3D was really good and pretty strong, with a few exceptions. Not something you want to watch in one sitting though.

I've been wondering for a while if the content on this is exclusive or if it's available on any other "Best of 3D" disc. I have all the German ones:

Haven't looked at the Best Of 3D collection for awhile, but my experience was that the UK Best of 3D title has the exact same content as the German Vol. 4-6 Best of 3D title.

Hi 13,

The first entry is a Nut Job cartoon with the two squirrels tangling with a bank robber in a truck. Hope that gives you a clue.

Just watched Epic, liked the movie and think the 3D was great.

I tried something new tonight, usually I watch movies on my 106" screen in total darkness. But tonight I had a low light source behind the screen, making the walls around the screen visible. This made the 3D stand out a lot more, very effective. I have the light on remote and can turn it off and on - to see the difference. I will now watch all 3D movies like this from now on.

Watched G.I. Joe: Retaliation last night. LOTS of action. I thought the 3D was mostly moderate, but there were a lot of things popping out from time to time. It was a fun ride. No great depth or meaning or anything like that; just a big action movie.

I need to swing by my local Big Lots and see if I can't snag a few of those 3D movies you guys have been mentioning in this (and maybe other) thread.

I'm on a tight budget. I bought it on ebay. Seller was only selling the 3D only, so it was cheaper and it's not a bootleg. Got it a couple of days ago. I will watch it perhaps later tonight.

When GI Joe is attacked by the mechanical fire flys the 3D was great!

Yeah, there were definitely some great 3D moments in the movie.

Got Madagascar 3 today at Big Lots for $5. Every weekend I go there seems to be one or more new 3D titles I haven't seen there before. I have two fairly close to each other, and they even have different ones.

Also got Turbo, Terminator Genisys, Mr. Peabody and Sherman, TMNT, The Spongebob Movie all last weekend. Picked up several a couple weekends before that including Kung Fu Panda 1+3, Star Trek: Into Darkness, Kubo, Hercules, Dragon Nest and others I can't recall.

With my set up now 7.1 again watched The Jungle Book to test out the DTS Master. The 3D was of course great but the added audio channels made the 3D even more immersive.

Love THX Cinema butit could become too loud for an apartment.
