Now I need to open these, though, since Filmstruck isn't available yet for the Roku. Grumble grumble.

And how about a group of directors for a young actress to work with, huh? Francois Truffaut, Jacques Demy, Roman Polanski and Luis Buñuel....Jesus.
4 great titles. Have you ever seen her in the film Indochine? What a wonderful film. her performance is equally wonderful.

And you've only waited 33 years until you were able to finally watch this film the way it was meant to be seen: In glorious 1080p HD with a 4k transfer.

Seriously, let's start a Rumble Fish fan club now. Lol.

Any word on a new transfer and reissue of older titles from the vault, Criterion?

I'd love to see John Woo's The Killer and Hard Boiled as well as Paul Morrissey's Monster pictures (Flesh for Frankenstein and Blood for Dracula).

not CC, but CC related...

Anyone enjoy John Ford's Two Rode Together as much as Pro-B apparently does? I thought about picking it up in the past, but kinda figured that it wasn't "must-see" or anything close, really. Pro-B's 5 star PQ review and his endorsement of the film have piqued my interest.

Aren't these with Dragon Dynasty right now?

Based on this transfer reviews for Hard Boiled and Killer, I'd say it needs some work.

With CC going back on a large amount of their titles with cleanup, these would be two perfect candidates for a full overhaul.

Yeah, I think it's a really good film and better than its reputation suggests. Glorious PQ - Eastman Colour + Ford's America is a match made in heaven.

My shelves and my wallet appreciate the break this week. I've double-dipped on a few spines in box sets, but I did not feel compelled to get these two.

I've sat through this thing twice and have no clue what anyone sees in it. It is a poor retread of The Searchers by Ford's own admission, with almost NONE of that film's virtues. Aside from some great banter between Stewart and Widmark in a strong early scene, I'd call this thing a total DUD, and this is coming from a guy who would cite John Ford as his favorite director.

I love it. Two Rode Together is sort an "evil twin" to John Ford's The Searchers. It's another great James Stewart role, and another feather in the cap of film noir stalwart Richard Widmark.

hmmm... two out of three ain't bad, right?

I've always been fond of Jimmy Stewart, so it has been fun learning more about some of his more under the radar films. I'll give it a try, but keep expectations tempered. If it has some great PQ like Arch says, then that could be enough for a couple hours.

for whatever it's worth, I couldn't get past 45 minutes of Drums Along The Mohawk, but all other Ford hasn't disappointed.

His films are so bittersweet and strange. So much angst and trauma and a lot of truth about how truly wierd most people are. His films are so powerful and truly unique. I always find my eyes getting a bit moist when I watch this film. It is funny, but in a very sad way!

I truly hope you enjoy Life During Wartime. I sure did.
I also like his movies very much, however i found "Life during wartime" a bit weaker than other movies by him, especially "Happiness" which is his masterpiece in my book, and would truly deserve an upgrade from the non-anamorphic dvd.

Jimmy Stewart could do no wrong, imo. I've never seen him give a performance I didn't really like.

Speaking of Stewart, when the hell is The Philadelphia Story getting a release?
