Get a grip mate, no one mentioned ‘hate’. We are talking patterns of behaviour here in relation to home cinema and it’s future. If you can’t seperate the two, that’s your problem not mine. You brought the word ‘hate’ up. Someone is trying to stir trouble methinks. Please be careful in the future with such posts.

Not at all. You can dislike or be nervous of a certain pattern of behaviour without hating. It’s a joke of a post and Penguin should know better.

Let’s get back on topic.

Talking about popcorn, which popcorn you (and everybody else here) use? I use a so-called pro popcorn maker and pre measured corn/coconut oil/flavacol package and I’m still not too happy with the quality. Not theatre-popcorn enough for me.

I have not had popcorn at home for years. I normally have a pizza on movie night. When I’m at the cinema I like sweet popcorn.

I can take or leave popcorn, but when I do want it, it MUST have real butter on it, none of that hydrogenated goo that most theaters use.

With that said, my lazy self just zaps some unflavored popcorn and then I salt and butter it to my taste.

I usually don't snack that much while watching a movie, but I insist upon having a nice cold beverage. I drink soft drinks such as iced teas or imported Coca Cola made with actual sugar, none of that domestic high fructose corn syrup shite.

Definitely popcorn for me. Usually make a big batch in a Whirley Pop which does a really good job on the stove. Drink of choice is a 12 yr old Rum with coke. Delicious combination

Same here, tried quite a few combinations using a popcorn machine with a kettle. The one we like the most, popcorn popped using a cheap hot air popper and using the popcorn machine for the container because it is heated. We use melted pure coconut oil (Snappy) with a small amount of Gold Medal Flavacol salt added to it and this mixture is sprinkled over the popcorn.

The cleanup with this combo is very easy. Some of the other oils we used was very difficult to remove from the plexiglass and stainless steel. Googone, Goofoff, mineral sprits, lacquer thinner, etc. would not cut that stuff once it had dried.

Folks may want to look into microwave popcorn and its cause of cancer.

Didn’t realise the risk was that great. Not just for cancer but also a specific type of lung disease.

But those patterns of behavior are full of stereotypes and ridiculous generalizations. You constantly stereotype millennial as only wanting to watch short videos and only wanting to watch on mobile devices. You believe that this behavior is widespread enough that it will completely obliterate all other types of media within 20 years.

You are also constantly stating that millenials have very short attention spans despite being provided many statistics that prove the opposite. You clearly know very few millenials and have made huge assumptions about the entire group. You are prejudiced against millenials.

I don't use anything pre packaged or measured. I buy the corn in a 50 lb bag, and I use canola or vegetable oil (what I have on hand)

I have 8oz popcorn maker, and use it for normal popcorn, and then it is just salp pepper and some spices. But sometimes I make Caramelapino popcorn
[Show spoiler]
in a large pot add sugar, salt, water (just a bit), extra hot hot sauce, butter and cook until you get carmelapino sauce and then add popped popcorn
and then I just pop it in a large pot.

No, you said hate. Your words not mine. You presume to know what I’m thinking and you presume to know my life and how many millennials I come into contact with. You can’t go throwing accusations like that around. It’s one thing to dislike s certain trend or behaviour but to suggest I hate millennials is just silly at best and downright offensive to me at worst. Stop joining in with those other two and focus on your stance about ownership rights.

That’s my final word and it should be yours also. Stop trying to stir things up again.

Prejudice (noun) : The act or state of holding unreasonable preconceived judgments or convictions.

Whether or not you hate millennials you're definitely prejudiced. You have many preconceived notions about their viewing habits and attention spans that you have applied to the vast majority of the group.

You have absolutely no evidence to back-up your ridiculous ideas that TVs and 2-3 hour movies will be gone in 20 years but you continue to make those predictions because of your steadfast belief that millenials only care about short videos and mobile viewing.

If I recall the cancer claims have to do with the flavorings, or coating, added to the microwave popcorn and that was more of an issue for those who worked in the factories where it is made as the workers breathed that crap in all day everyday.

The unseasoned microwave popcorn has none of that flavored coating, so it is perfectly fine.

I suspect by "other two" you are referring to me as least half of that pair.

"Final word?" From you? A topic is never "closed" unless you get the last word.

I wanted to stay out of this little spat, but seeing as you decided to drag me into it, I will weigh in.

I would stop short of saying that you hate millenials, but you are irrationally hyper critical of them. They are your repeatedly named scapegoat charged with causing the demise of almost everything that you say that you value. To put it another way, you only mention this group to criticize them and to blame them. Your fears need a boogeyman and millenials are it.

Do we really need to repost a sampling of the many unkind things that you have had to say about millenials? You are most DEFINITELY prejudiced towards them.

Prejudice:

"preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience."

https://www.google.com/search?q=prej...hrome&ie=UTF-8

"Prejudice is an unreasonable dislike of a particular group of people or things, or a preference for one group of people or things over another."

https://www.collinsdictionary.com/us...lish/prejudice

"an unreasonable opinion or feeling, especially the feeling of not liking a particular group of people."

https://www.macmillandictionary.com/...an/prejudice_1

All three of those definitions describe perfectly how you have constantly derided millenials.

I better not discuss this any further with you as you are oh so fragile.

I wouldn't want you to have save us and this thread twice in one week, either.

Alright, let’s try this another way Steedeel. What are you trying to accomplish here? What’s your endgame? Are you hoping that we’ll take the bait and have us 86’d from the forum? Because the only one throwing sand around here is you. You, like the rest of us, are a guest here. So follow your own advice and stop trying to micro-mod the discussion.

You have to get creative without basements for sure. A big OLED and a bunch of in walls in a shared purpose room might have to be a compromise down the road for me with some of the options we are kicking around.
For me, the entire attic needs to be retcon from insulation on up to the ceiling. Our A/C unit is up there. There has been talk about moving the unit into a downstairs unit, but I still need to find a work around for the vent tubing. So I’m thinking keep it there, but maybe find a way to work it and the tubes into the design. I’d also like a working bathroom up there. Like I said, by the time we get around this my wife will give it to our son

I don’t have a particular snack. Even when I had a designated area it wasn’t one thing or another outside of my drinks of choice. I tend to only have popcorn when I’m at the movies. The rest of the time it depends on what I’m craving at the time. My wife usually uses homemade or microwave for her and our son though. Sorry I can’t give any better advice there sapiendut.

Couldn’t help but laugh at a newspaper article I read in a well known U.K. newspaper this morning. A health specialist wrote about the harm of binge watching and even watching tv or other devices within a couple of hours of bedtime. She even suggested standing to watch tv for some of a show.

The recommendation was to press pause every 30 minutes and go take the dog for a walk, empty the dishwasher or grab a drink.

It’s not hard to see that future I listed several weeks ago. You have all been warned.

Restrictions on amount of time watching tv (or other screens)

Warnings to take exercise in between tv episodes (similar to how Apple Watch prompts you to stand up every so often)

Netflix and others bending to politicians power to release weekly episodes rather than altogether.

Pressure for 30 minutes episodes rather than 1 hour.

Software that causes a blackout if you go over government recommended viewing time (similar to screen time but more advanced)

Possible taxes

I stated this a while back and you guys (as usual) didn’t take it seriously.

But you will. . Something will be brewing here, in the last year alone such reports and recommendations have increased. The consumer as always, will suffer.

Nah, I’m not one for wanting to see people banned or suspended. I have never sent a message to mods asking for a thread to be looked at or a member to be removed. And.............I never will.
