I'll watch it Tuesday night so that I can reevaluate the film and see if my 4/5 stands or if it goes up.
I wish I had friends that would buy DVDs from me for $10, well after I move on from combo packs. Hoping it goes up, Inception really is to me the best movie I've seen since the 2009 box office smash Avatar.

I don't think you'll get him to give that up. Squid loves the Beib.
Haaa haaa.

Thers a funny story there.

I ordered Deadwood from Barnes and Noble on November 28th and they shipped it DHL on December 1st. Supposed to take 2-6 business days. After 15 days I call and they say "OK, its lost in shipment and we'll ship you a new one for free via UPS 3 day air. The day after I called them, my (lost) package shows up, but its too small to hold 3 seasons of Deadwood. I open it up and its Beibers latest CD.

I wont notify them or send it back until I have Deadwood (on BLU) in my hands. As of thiss morning the DHL tracking site still doesnt show it as delivered. Lame.

I think my new shipment may be correct because the first on said .442 lbs and the new one says 2.2 lbs. Of course, it could be some Twilight movies. But that would be cool. I could have a bidding war between Riff and Gandolf.

Since she was 10 years old and did Leon? Still think she's the best actress alive, even if I don't see her in much lately.

SCOTT PILGRIM VS THE WORLD (119 minutes)

Film #2

Year: 2010
Director: Edgar Wright
Starring: Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Chris Evans, Kieran Culkin, Ellen Wong and Mark Webber
Genre: Adventure, Fantasy

What Made Me Want to See This? Looked quirky and interesting

One thing that was made incredibly clear time and time again in Scott Pilgrim: style does not equal substance. For all the flash, do-dads, “fun facts”, quirky video game background visuals and sound effects, Scott Pilgrim really just didn’t entertain as I thought it should.

I’m not a big video game guy, and I haven’t read the graphic novel, or any graphic novels so I wasn’t going into this judging a film against a book. I was simply watching because it’s a film and it looked entertaining. And to be completely honest, it isn’t really that entertaining. And the quirkiness the film is filled with (visuals, sound, dialogue directing, writing and character wise) only does so much to cover up the flaws of the film. And even those humorous hi-jinks kind of get old after awhile. Especially with a 119 minute run time that is just way too long. I was honestly tempted to turn the film off at the 30 minute mark, then again at the 60 minute mark. But I told myself I was going to finish, and I’m kind of glad I did.

It’s not a terrible film, but not very funny either. I had one - ONE - legitimate LOL. Sure there were chuckles and whatnot, but this is not a laugh riot. However, I did find that my favorite characters were Knives (Ellen Wong), Mr. Lee (Chris Evans) and my personal favorite: Todd Ingram who was brought to life by Brandon Routh. He was hysterical and his dry delivery made me glad I kept the movie on. It’s shame these “evil exes” only get limited screen time why bland, boring characters like the drummer of the band get so much screen time.

I also enjoyed the songs Scott’s band played - but again, only limited time is given to this.

I also felt the exes got better and more expansive as the film went on, which was nice as I actually looked forward to see who would be next. The shame is that, 30 minutes in is when we FINALLY meet one of these “evil exes”.

Oh and for those who don’t know, the story is centered around Scott Pilgrim who meets a girl named Ramona Flowers (brought to life by Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who actually is gorgeous, but not here with an awful hair style) who he cannot date constantly and outright until he defeats her seven evil exes.

Visually the film is astounding with a blend of bright colors and some editing techniques that seem like they’re ripped right out of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (scenes and items smashing together into other scenes). And the audio on this beast is amazing. An easy 5/5. I almost wish I enjoyed the film more because I would totally just put on some of the bands songs and turn my sound bar up. Great fun and a plethora of detail to be found here.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is the first addition to my own custom “Never Again” Collection. For the few positives the film had, and no real glaring negatives, it's not something i hate but the film is definitely something I would never invest two hours in again.

AWARDS / RECOGNITION!

Favorite Male Character: Todd Ingram (Brandon Routh)
Favorite Male Performance: Lucas Lee (Chris Evans)
Favorite Female Characters: Knives Chau (Ellen Wong)
Added to the: Never Again Collection

Recommendation: only for fans of comic books, videogames and / or Michael Cera

PQ: 4.5/5
AQ: 5/5

Technical Score: 3.5/5
Enjoyment Level Score" 2/5 “didn’t care for it”

Final Verdict: 2.5/5

I got it at Wal-Mart. Call me lame, but it's easy for me to sneak BD purchases past the ol lady when i do it at wal mart. "I dunno honey, you know how goddamn expensive that organic milk is!" I should've just ponied up another 5 bux for the combo, but at that point i wasn't sure i liked the movie enough.

Quick ratings.

Seven Samurai - 5/5
I am happy to permanently have this in my collection even just for the sake of it. This movie is a real cinematic giant.
I was always amazed by how realistic Kurosawa made his movies.

Shrek - 4.75/5
When I was young, I was indiferrent to this movies. Now i finally get the more adult oriented jokes and guess waht, this movie is so much fun.
Donkey is hilarious.

Shrek - 5/5
I think this one has a very little edge over Shrek in terms of intertainment value. The cat is hilarious.

P.S. As to Portman, I just dont like her for no reason. It happens to all of us.
As for dancing, I hate it althoug I do see This Is It a lot and have been going to dancing for 6 years.

I also have been going to dancing for 6 years.
I still do hate it. There has been too much dancing going on around Television during the last years and it just got stupid.

As for all of the titles you mentioned above, I bought them for music.
There is very little dancing in Beauty And The Beast.
Most of the time I dont even turn the TV on when I am listening to the music.

Am I confused, or are you?

I think Penn has a much better chance, simply based on the trailer, since he will be playing the "disillusioned adult." However, any comment regarding that film at this point is far too premature. Keep in mind that Malick has never had someone get an Oscar nod for acting in his films, despite the high quality of acting in each of his films.
