Yeah this, because they don't look like normal Blu Ray cases from what I've seen.

It's just because the extras are PAL, and a US model PS3 won't play PAL content. I picked up the fairly inexpensive region-free Sherwood BD player, and it has no problem playing the PAL extras on discs like Amelie and Ashes of Time Redux.

They're not. Criterion's blu-ray plastic cases were/are custom made by Scanavo. They are clear plastic with no blu-ray logo on them and about as thick as a PS3 game case.

It has been out of print for a long time and that has been discussed here already numerous times.

he was talking about OOP on Criterion's site (It's been in stock still up until he wrote that!).

So how are you guys enjoying the films that come with those lovely cases?

Recently watched Breathless last night (Terrific presentation) and before that Pierrot Le Fou (2nd time viewing it on BR).

Both are worth the dough.

Ford of course was notoriously cranky and by '68 was a bit hard of hearing which would make a difficult interview for an experienced journalist. Unfortunately the young BBC interviewer was not up to the task. The footage is raw and includes the crew struggling with technical issues while the interviewer recites a list of entry level questions which Ford endures with barely controlled contempt.

It's worth a watch, especially for the moment Ford is asked if he believes the exploitation of the "Redskins" is a blot on American history.
Just got around to watching the interview. Some really great insight by Ford. Some bad questions by the interviewer (e.g. getting sidetracked with political questions). The interviewer should have and could have got a lot more about Ford's directing. I wonder how that got cut for the BBC, they went through quite a few rolls.

The best is when Bogdanovich (I think it's from DIRECTED BY JOHN FORD) asks Ford:

PB: How did you shoot this scene?
Ford: With a camera.

I didn't know anyone would be surprised by that knowing that I like Rob Zombie's films.

But it's another band I grew up with. What was so bad about them?

Grew up with??? Weren't they already disbanded by the time you were 10 years old?

Criterion posted a great video of Guillermo del Toro raiding the blu-ray closet at the Criterion offices. What I wouldn't give to spend 10 minutes in that room.

Also picked up The Thin Red Line at Best Buy earlier. Didn't see Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence though.

That's a funny video. I just cruised over to their Facebook page and watched it.

I saw him speak at a function a few years back and he told that story. Great stuff.

Do the cases look very out of place when put with other blui rays or about the same size?

You definitely don't wanna mix in your Criterion blu-rays with your other blu-rays. Seriously, though, the Criterion plastic cases are the same height as the standard blue-colored blu-ray cases. Criterion has some blu-rays, though, packaged in cardboard slipcases, and that packaging is higher than the plastic cases. There are few pictures throughout the thread, I know, that people have posted.

My mom listened to them when I was a kid (since she was in her younger 20s). I was a cooler kid then all of you all were. So therefore, I grew up on them. No I didn't know who Rob or Sean Yseult was when I was 7 or 8, but I owned Astro Creep: 2000 at that age and loved them ever since. So yes, I grew up on them.
