Or, she and Ben knew what was in that brief case (hence their worried looks, etc) and she figured it out. But that's a lot less likely than the former theory. So no, you didn't answer your own question as someone would have you think. |

Re: Aunt May knowing he's Spider-Man.
It depends on where they go with it in the sequel. In the comics it was kinda revealed that Aunt May has always kinda of known that Peter was Spider-Man. But she keeps that knowledge to herself, cause she knows he'd probably stop what he's doing if she came out and let him know. Cause he'd feel guilty that she knew he was putting his life in danger all the time. Of course, I believe the erasure of Spider-Man's identity put that back in the bottle as well. They toyed with that in the Raimi films by having Aunt May clearly know by Spider-Man II that he was. And giving him that much needed peptalk during the film. Which I really like. Even though Spider-Man III sorta poop cans that by making it seem like she has no idea again. So meh. It really depends on what version of Aunt May they're going with for the new series of film. We don't see enough of a picture of her as a character yet. For all we know she could more like the Ultimate Spider-Man version. And turn out to be a real pain in the butt. Indeed. But again, depends how they play it in the sequel. Since she already knew he was getting into fights even before Uncle Ben died. And especially afterwards. I wouldn't at all mind them going the route that she knows. As long as they handle it well.

I agree, I really think she knows at the end. It seems to be a subtle confirmation, and Field does an excellent job in that scene.

Sally Fields Aunt May is so much better than Rosemary Harris'. Harris' is so preachy and cheesy.

I agree. I think Field was much better in the role. Martin Sheen was a much better Uncle Ben as well. Honestly, I just liked this one more than the Raimi films all around. That's not saying I don't like the Raimi films, but this is a better take on the characters and universe, in my opinion.

That's possible true, but your response to his question was disrespectful. I honestly don't know if you've always been this way and I'm just noticing it lately or what

My first impression was that Field's Aunt May was just stupid not to show any concern whether Peter told her the truth or not.

Even as big of a mixed bag as Raimi's first Spider-Man film was, at least it still had that mythic quality to it, this was like watching some kind of dull teen drama for the first hour, and then when the action did come, the villian just wasn't very interesting. Even Sandman in Spider-Man 3 was more interesting then this guy. Hopefully they do better with part 2. This wasn't a bad movie, it was just disposable, nothing really memorable or of note.
