The fact that they aren't doing an unmasked sculpt just seems lazy to me. Especially since he's like that in a lot of the film.

I don't think that it's lazy. I think that it's just actually common sense. His unmasked look is very much like Freddy Krueger. People would likely not bother using it as a result. I certainly wouldn't use an unmasked headsculpt. The mask is just too cool and iconic by comparison.

It's probably more about them wanting to keep the price down. I'm guessing it would add $50-75 to the price if a second headsculpt was included, and that $275-300 price tag would scare a lot of potential buyers away. If anything, they should offer him both ways, they could do a special edition/exclusive that's "rated R" and has his hamburger headsculpt and one or two exclusive accessories like
[Show spoiler]the unicorn and a lotion bottle
for example. That way they could please both casual fans and the hardcore collectors that want the extras and are willing to pay the extra cash, I know I would.

It's all about options and variety though, just because you wouldn't use it doesn't mean it shouldn't be made. I would love to have the option of changing the heads out from time to time, not to mention, I'm sure Tony Mei or someone would make a nice mask out of the same material that he could hold in his hand, making the hamburger head that much better as an option. It wouldn't be for everyone, some people put their figures in museum poses and leave them there and some people put them in action poses and change it up every week, but having the option would still be nice.

Oh, I agree. You actually worded my sentiments better in the post that followed mine. As an added accessory increasing price vs. creating a separate figure as an option was more of the thinking that I had to support my thoughts on the Krueger-like headsculpt. I'm just not verbalizing myself fully yet. Lack of sleep + still waking up = foggy output.

I am all for options. In this case though, too many major options at once is an impractical gamble from the business side of things.

I would've wanted an extra head sculpt but it would drive the price upwards to $279 at least...

I am sure Tony Mei will be making an acid scarred Ryan Reynolds HS...

What about the ant-man figure,it is the same price as deadpool(ant-man slightly cheaper in nz) but has a head sculpt. Light up feature plus minature ant-man and the head sculpt is awesome.

My slowly growing Hot Toys Star Wars collection. I plan on adding a lot more within the next 12 months.

From the looks and sounds of it, the Ant-Man figure does not have a 2nd headsculpt though. It seems as though it was designed as 1 headsculpt with functionally removable mask feature. There is a huge difference in making a small facial sculpt and incorporating it into the figure and creating an entirely new headsculpt. Deadpool would require an entirely new interchangeable head to be able to present him with his maskless hamburger look. That would be A LOT more work, thus a significant price increase would be warranted.

Why can't they do the same, have his head sculpt under the mask which is removable like in the movie.

Because removing the fabric in order to get to the skin sculpt would be extremely likely to possibly damage both. And, any other attempt at using some harder, more durable, material with a "clip on or around" design would probably lead to either the mask version looking too big (having to go over a properly proportioned headsculpt) for the rest of the body, or the headsculpt looking too small (having to fit inside a properly proportioned mask sculpt) compared to the rest of the body.

Your idea is just too logistically difficult to put into practice in this case. There cannot be a hamburger headsculpt AND mask sculpt incorporated into a single headpiece without it being highly susceptible to damage.

I don't see that being the case at all. Look at the Captain America figures. $225 with two heads. Hell, the new figure has two heads with one having swappable mouth pieces. Star Lord has two heads as well and was $235.

And honestly they even could've done a regular and deluxe edition. Like they are doing with Boba Fett.

I agree that the Ant-man is one of the best out there currently. If I have extra cash, I may pick it up maybe later this year.

Two heads is better than one.

Maybe they will have a Deadpool 2.0 due to the popularity of this figure.

I really like it too. But, I could only commit to one this year and it's his own fault that the DEADPOOL film came along before he did.
