Samurai Trooper has been licensed rescued by Discotek Media. A show with such a minimal fanbase as this will never get a BD release. I think we would have a better chance at seeing Golion released on BD.

This is old news. The box was stated back in July that it would house both volumes. I'm also pretty sure the cardboard box that was in there that read, 'SAILOR MOON VOLUME 2 GOES HERE" or something to that extent was a dead giveaway.

so you say... I loved that show when it was on, and I knew 5 others in my school that also was into it. How is 6 people "minimal"

I remember someone said "why do you guys get up so early in the morning" and in unison we answered "that's when sailor moon and ronin warriors is on TV, duh" — I think they were on around 6am. Back-to-back on the same channel.

However popular it was or wasn't back then, these days something like Samurai Trooper is the definition of obscure or semi-obscure. Think of how many current fans in the primary age bracket (~25 and under) have probably even heard of it. I would bet not many. Hell, even when I was in high school in the late 90s, it was just a show on Toonami I never watched.

So yeah, minimal fanbase. Which happens to be the target audience for most of Discotek's output.

I bet it wasn't as obscure as YuYu Hakusho and that was released on BD. I knew more people that heard of Samurai Troopers than I did YuYu.

The music for it was ranked 12 on the charts, that's pretty good.

I enjoyed Ronin Warriors and would love to see Samurai Trooper, but let's face it, unless you are as popular as Dragon Ball, Cowboy Bebop, or Sailor Moon, you are not going to get a BD release if you from before 2000. Hell, One Piece is the most popular series in Japan and that series just started coming out on BD with the current arc.

This means they run at the same speed as the Viz DVDs, and obviously have no pitch issues. Dynit really knew what they were doing when they put these together (they're like the anti-Viz!).

nice, though it looks like you mixed up the mouse out/mouse over image labels up top in the comparison

Yu Yu Hakusho was great fun in its day. Same with Ronin Warriors, Samurai Pizza Cats, yada yada. Lots of good old stuff you just don't see anymore.

Whoops, you're right. I don't think anyone will be confused as to which is which though

I've made available my first two episodes as demonstration material for someone on another forum. If anyone here would like the links to take a look at how much better the Italian video quality is (and how my sub and dub syncing skills are!) just post or PM me.

Until someone elsewhere post the link and says "See, the Viz version _is_ better than the Italian release!" ^^;

Complete uncut Sailor Moon coming from Madman in Australia:

http://love-and-pop.com/madman-acqui...-anime-series/

They mention an all new dub and a Blu-ray release, which leads me to believe they're probably licensing everything from Viz and that their sets will look just as bad.

It says "The first 12 episodes of SAILOR MOON will premiere on AnimeLab.com on November 28" so we will find out then both the video quality and the dub cast. If it is indeed the Viz edition, it will have the same voices.

I honestly doubt Madman will do they're own dub and Blu-ray remaster for this, so I suggest you prepare for the same Blu-rays for the Australian release.

The studios and companies who made these didn't concider that one day maybe they will wanna clean them up and try to make them look better. So remember this is a animated show. Now a movie can be remastered to look great in HD how ever animated stuff (movie cartoon or tv show) can if the original masters where done right and not on the cheap side.
I hate and I am very deeply sorry to bring an old post to reply to, but it has some points I want to share to people who have this mind set now. Then how come the Dragon Ball Z Level Sets and the Yu Yu Hakusho seasons (shows just as old as Sailor Moon) look amazing on Blu-ray, with great detail, film grain intact and are a visual beauty, so what's the deal with Sailor Moon, why can't it look as great as the Hakusho Blu-rays, who's masters were probably as cheaply made as Sailor Moon's. But Viz thought everyone hates grain on a remaster and decided to DNR it, erasing all grain, but here's the thing the DNR technology does not know the difference between artifact grain and film grain, it never has and it probably never will.

Artifact grain is when a picture, movie, show, ect. are compressed by the technology and creates more grain in the image to get the full picture, most Blu-rays don't suffer from this, at least from what I've seen.

Film grain is the details of the film, the thing that makes the image what it is when it's filmed. You erase this, then you erase the detail in the film and ruin the picture, why do think the Ultimate Hunter Edition of Predator looked so bad, they took a film that was filmed on very grainy film stock and removed it all, and that's a life action film, so that kind of transfer for an animated show/movie is even worse.

And it could of been avoided if they actually tried, it could of been a decent SD remaster had they tried, but they took the lazy way and gave us this blurry, terrible mess of a transfer, just because they couldn't remaster the SD footage properly or wait for a Japanese remaster. in my opinion no company should release a anime on Blu unless they have Japanese masters for it (Yu Yu Hakusho, Studio Ghibli) or you're paying a lot of money for people that know what they're doing (DBZ level sets). Viz should of just released the show with the new dub on DVD, then release the Blu & DVD of Crystal until there is a Blu-ray remaster from Japan. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Viz cancels the Blus, since they are charging a ridiculous price for a sub-par transfer, no smart consumer would buy it, you be better off getting the cheaper DVDs to satisfy your Sailor Moon fix.

(Rant over, sorry I really needed to get this off my chest)

Because most of the time Bandai Visual sinks their money into HD Telecines while Toei takes a shit and craps out Q-TEC upscales.

Wow! You know for an anime company to treat one of their main money makers like that is disgraceful. Come on Toei, show us that you care about other things then Dragon Ball.

Let's not get confused about the current situation. Toei have done nothing to Sailor Moon other than preserve it in very good SD masters (just like Dragon Ball). Yes, it's a shame that they seem to prefer upscaling to doing new HD masters when they release Blu-rays, but they've done nothing of the sort to Sailor Moon, VIZ have. They took the very nice (and much better than I expected) SD masters and ruined them. All of this is on VIZ.
