Below is what I sent to them. Now I know it may do nothing but at least I feel better lol

-------------------------------------------------------
I pre-ordered Mad Max Steelbook Blu-ray from store #408. When I went there to collect my prepaid order, I was told they do not have any in stock. The customer service rep said she was sorry and either I can wait for an item that may or may not come, or get a refund.

First of all, I am curious as in how a company can just sell an item and not be able to fulfill a paid for order. I am assuming Best Buy uses a computer system to be able to track sales of items by sku numbers like say Amazon does. If Best Buy had only a certain number of these steelbooks company wide, why did they continue to sell past what they were able to guarantee to their customers. Now I understand if I walked into the store and was hoping to get one off the shelf then I cannot be upset with the company if they sell out before I get there. The difference here however is I prepaid weeks in advance.

The second issue was the customer service at the store level. When I was being "helped", I got the two option answer. 1. You can wait for an item that may or may not come in or 2. We can give you a refund. My issue is zero attempt was made to try to fix the situation even in some small way. Not even some fake assurance that they would take my number and give an update. Instead I am left in some nebulous may or may not get the item and was told to just keep calling the store.

By now I realize you are probably banging your head on the computer screen praying that this e-mail about some guy going on and on about some silly $20 buck blu-ray will end. But the issue here is I am in the market for a brand new T.V. and I plan to get a high end T.V.. I am left with a question. If Best Buy can't even handle a pre-order of a $20 blu-ray, how I can I trust them to take care of me when I am going to spend thousands of dollars and considering investment in any of their possible extended services? I hope you have a convincing answer for me.
----------------------------------------------------
That's a great letter but I doubt BB will even care. Like I said last night my friend pre ordered for in store pick up at a BB open 24/7. We get there & they only had 4, all sold as the manager said it was first come first serve. Sad really. I myself had to get a copy from eBay for $45. BB needs to fix this so it doesn't happen to people who pre order in the future.

Got mine, and customer service had 2 more in addition to mine behind the counter. Mine was ordered online for in-store pickup, so I guess that's the way to go rather than those useless cards

My Pops' girlfriend picked one up at the Southside location across from Target at like 4 this afternoon, but she had to have a manager get one from "the back".
My luck was great! I got the last one (on shelves) at the Avenues store...

Perfect condition, too. No spine slashes or dents.
If Town Center had any, they must've been in the back. I checked everywhere on the floor.

Preordered for in-store pickup a few weeks ago, got an email Monday afternoon informing me it was ready for pickup. Went in at about 1:30 this afternoon and looked around. None anywhere in sight so went to store pickup line. Gave the girl my ID and order number. My location had many steels set aside in a locked cage, mine among them. She grabbed the one with my name on it, processed the order, and sent me on my way. In and out, 5 minutes. This location is always on top of things and they take care of me. Looked around one last time to see if I could spot one or two to grab for people on here, but no dice.

UV codes with the pre-orders. Why else would you have different SKU codes?

Very satisfied, especially since this is the first time I was unable to pick out my own favorite of the bunch.

I get that this is a MAD MAX movie, but in my opinion, I truly believe that this is actually a MAD FURIOSA movie. She is the STAR. Max is a supporting character.

The steelbook is gorgeous. But I think the back cover photo should be Furiosa -- not Max (even though he is total eye candy). Heck, even Nux (Nicholas Hoult) would have been a better choice for the back of the steelie.

This was my first time pre-ordering at Best Buy, as well as the first time a pre-order resulted in nothing actually being reserved for me.

I went to the "pick up" counter per my receipt's instructions and was directed to the back of the long line for "customer service" instead. When I reached the front, the cashier grabbed a standard blu-ray from behind the counter (without acknowledging the difference) and proceeded to ring it up. I pointed out that it was supposed to be a steelbook, and she explained they didn't have any more copies in stock. Fortunately I kept the glossy pre-order card so I can still look at the steelbook whenever I want.

I left my phone number at the desk- knowing full well that nothing will ever come of it- and proceeded to check out their Fury Road display. There were plenty of 3D copies available and I managed to find the only one with a slipcover that wasn't torn or mangled. As I removed it from the shelf, I heard loose discs sliding around inside the case. Bah. MEDIOCRE!

The good news is that this story does have a happy ending. Prior to arriving at the store I had already managed to convince myself that what I really needed- even more than the steelbook or 3D combo pack- was the Anthology box set. The store had one copy up front which appeared to have been sat upon, but they had several copies in mint condition back in the new releases section. I honestly thought the cover art was just a temp when I first saw it on Amazon, but in person it does look very nice. It looks even better sitting on my shelf in between the Lethal Weapon Collection set and the Max Max Trilogy set. Had it not been for Best Buy and Fate nudging me with that pre-order mixup, it's possible I may have felt a slight pang of guilt over double-dipping.

In short, this was a learning lesson for many buyers/collectors today.
1) Order online only
2) Show up @ Store opening before scalpers if possible
3) Locate a backup Best Buy if possible

I think this would of made some awesome back cover art. (Mostly just Max and Furiosa)

Yep, chiming in to say that mine is perfect with no dents or scratches or anything but like many others the top doesn't entirely close. Guess it was a problem at the manufacturer

After the shenanigans from this morning, I was actually able to get one after work from my 2nd in-store pickup attempt. I had hoped to get 1 or 2 more to help out some of you guys but they were wiped clean!

Lesson learned today that with a movie this popular, DEFINITELY need to pre-order it earlier than the day of!

Mine also was in flawless condition, not sure how I would've handled this had the one remaining copy held for me had a spine slash!

Best Buy Pre-order, In-Store pick up

I received my BB Email confirmation yesterday saying my item was ready for in store pick-up. Peeked in at the forum from work and read the Steelbook disaster stories unfold, so I must admit I was a little nervous!

Went directly to BB after work and neatly stacked up, saved behind the customer service counter was my pristine copy. She handed it to me and I looked it over and was relieved I finally secured my copy - Did a quick tour of the MM stand up display & New Release shelf before I left and not a Steelbook to be found! I have always had good luck with the Preorder In-store pick up option. Sorry to hear about all the troubles of other members and collectors. Hopefully you guy's and gal's can get your hands on them once BB has them available again!

It's a very nice Steelbook Indeed!!

My horror story was BEYOND ANNOYING:

I pre-ordered my steelbook in store on August 14. Tonight I went to go pick it up and they had me waiting around for 15 minutes while they were "looking for it". Finally, they came back and started shuffling around in the back closets of the customer service area and pull one out, it has a sticker on it with someone else's name. I asked, well, I'm here, I pre-ordered it, why can't you give me that one and then tell THAT GUY that you don't have it when he comes to pick his up? Why are you holding onto a copy for him, when you don't have one for me? They refused to give it to me. I asked when this guy pre-ordered it, and they said August 31. He pre-ordered it YESTERDAY!?!? I preordered it 2 and a half weeks before he did, and I'm here now while he's not, so why can't you just give me the damn blu-ray and then when he comes, give him the same BS story you're giving me right now about how you don't have it?

Needless to say, nobody in that store was willing to give it to me. So here I set at home now, and I didn't get my pre-ordered steelbook.

Was not fortunate enough to locate a copy today, however, after asking how fast they sold out this morning, the manager at my local store (who happens to be a steelbook guy apparently) informed me that they'll be receiving more stock on monday's truck. Not sure of the accuracy of the info, but just an FYI.
