Seen the UHD? Do you lean more Bill Hunt--The Bits--or M. Enois Duarte (High-Def Digest)?

..
It seems this reviewer prefers the 2007 blu ray look more.

I tweeted out to Lionsgate, John Carpenter, and Sandy King Carpenter about the audio and she was the only one to reply saying: “We haven't heard anything about that.” I couldn’t figure out how to copy a link to a tweet on my app or else I’d include it.

Incorrect, I checked out exactly as you describe from the unknowing employee and check out was not an issue!

Maybe if it was March or April, you could go ahead and watch it, since Halloween would be a long wait. Since it's the last week of September, you might as well wait a week for October to officially get here.

After watching the 4k Halloween Disc I think that I prefer the 35th edition better in terms of color and saturation.

This transfer like some reviewers have said is very dark and has a gray hue, it sacrifices the popping colors to the extent that in some scenes it is somewhat drab in appearance.

I will keep this version but I still think my go to for watching Halloween will still be the 35th version until something better comes out to my liking.

I watched this on my 4k oled 65” LG and the blacks were rich but simply overall a drab presentation but some may prefer it this way.

This 4k did sharpen some scenes better but to me this was negated by the overall appearance.

High Def digest said in their review for the 35TH that it was made from a tired old master and now they're saying this is made from the "controversial" master made in 2013. Controversial because it didn't replicate the THX' conspicuous revisionism from over a decade before, and which a minority demand to see over again.

I thought HD digest were clowns then. Now I'm convinced.

To be fair the “tired old master” line was in reference to the “disasterous” 2007 blu-ray which, as we all know, did indeed recycle a DVD-era master. That being said, both reviews pompously proclaim the latest color timing to be wrong without citing a single a single source.

And no, stating in a (professional?) review that the Criterion laserdisc along with the THX mastered DVD were correct does not make it so.

Stunning transfer.

But holy shit. They removed the dancing hair on the lens in Laurie’s bedroom.

This is supposed to be a new transfer that received it's premier in August 2018 at Frightfest in London.

No, it wasn’t. It’s very much present on the 35th BD... along with every single release of the film prior to this UHD.
