Without wanting to give spoilers Babu Frik might raise a chuckle.

The Force Awakens

Still haven't seen Solo.

I probably won't watch any of them again. The Last Jedi was my favorite of the bunch, but it was pretty much cancelled by Rise of Skywalker. Disney's Star Wars needs better storytellers.
I feel completely opposite except for TLJ.

TFA: A-
RO: A
TLJ: B
Solo: A
TROS: B+

To me it's:
1. TLJ: A
2. TFA: B
3. RO: D
4. TRoS: F

Haven't seen Solo and probably not going to bother.

Just pre-ordered. If the original cuts of the movies are there I'll keep the order, otherwise I'll cancel. $250 is high but worthwhile for me for the whole series, digital copies, and the original cuts, as someone who grew up with these movies. The prequels are kind of filler (and will surely be an upscale of the BD set I have anyway), but HDR grading on them might be interesting. And I'd buy TLJ anyway, so this saves me a step.

Episodes II and III have to be as they were shot in 2K.

As has been said many times, the original cuts are not going to be there, so you might as well cancel now. JJ Abrams himself said so -

“I’ve been told that, for reasons that I quite don’t understand, that that’s not necessarily possible,” he told Now This News about the non-tinkered versions. “Which is, you know, too bad because that was the thing that I loved.” (source)

A. O. Scott of the Times said there's the original films, and then everything else is battling for the number four slot. The Rise of Skywalker is better than the Preeks, in terms of raw fun and energy. The Force Awakens introduces a wonderful set of new characters. Solo is fun, but slight. Rogue One is a true war film. The Last Jedi is about anxiety and sacrifice, that whole PTSD result of a war never ending. Which one on the eight films post-Return of the Jedi you like really is a "pick one, but they're all not that consequential", because they aren't going to beat the original and they all have their unique issues and credits. The Rise of Skywalker is a technical marvel. Surprised it didn't land a sound mixing nod, because the sound is zipping all over the place in that film. Should be a treat for home theater sound enthusiasts.

Surprised by this as well. The lightning on Exogul should have had its own award.

Disney Era ranking:

Rogue One - 8/10
Solo - 7/10
The Force Awakens- 7/10
The Last Jedi - 5/10
The Rise of Skywalker - 5/10 (think I'm being generous as well)

I'm very hard to please when it comes to humor in movies post 2000. Generally speaking, I prefer very little to no humor at all depending on the content and type of movie. But if Rise takes a step back from the, eh..., "odd" situations as found in TLJ, then I see that as a good sign.

Anyone saying Rise is worse than TLJ is high.

Straight up.

High.

2+3 were shot pure digitally so they are locked to original resolution. Ep 1 was technically shot in film, but considering pretty much every scene is a green screen anyways it's a mix of film shot actors and digital effects. Geoff does a way better job explaining it earlier in the thread.

Even bad Star Wars is still good.

RO: A
Solo: A
TFA: B
TROS: C+
TLJ: D+

We all come from different mindsets depending on the media we grew up with.

So... how many years before we get Eps 10-12? I remember when Ep 3 came out it was all "Finally, the Saga is complete!" and Lucas swore up and down he wouldnt make 7-9 (which, he didnt so I guess he wasn't wrong). Assuming the new movies that Rian, et al are working on really arent connected, it wouldnt surprise me at all if in 10-15 years we get Ep 10 and then the "Really complete we mean it this time!" Collection after 10-12 are all out.
