I'm showing "preparing shipment" for both from Barnes and Noble, and credit card charged yesterday. For my backup Amazon order, the generic "arriving Wednesday" status, and no charges yet.

Obviously I wouldn't mind having them any time in September. I wasn't lucky enough to get the double feature with Legacy at my local IMAX. So having these in October would be a substitute for that event.

I cannot believe the amount of people losing their minds and F5'ing their orders all day over sometime so silly. It will be readily available shortly after release day.
That's not accurate.

It's sold out, just like Kingdom of Heaven and Master and Commander.

This is the email I got from my rep at Alliance

We only received a small portion of our Tron skus and we’re hearing they underproduced (or at least underestimated). You and hundreds of other accounts we’re in line to receive any based on prebook date. There are rumors about another run coming in November but they are not confirmed. I’m sorry but I won’t be able to include Tron.

These are titles leading up to Disney's major hit release of the year. If you think they won't re-appear, I don't know what to tell you.

KoH/M&C will be back, in Steelbook or Standard eventually. Not to mention imports are still available.

I hope that all of you who have multiple orders in will pass your extras on to others who haven't been able to get them. At cost. Since you are stating you are just trying to secure your copy.

lol

Sounds like ordering direct from Sony through Please Rewind was a smart move.

UK I know, but I had a Zavvi email about KoH steelbook being back in stock just yesterday. I’ve got the regular edition anyway, but I just rolled my eyes at the fact that these things are supposedly scarce…until they’re back in stock over and over again.

Yep, called it! haha

It is not surprising given the mere 2-week window between announcement and release day. The writing was on the wall, but I still think they really botched the rollout of the Tron steelbooks here in the US. Big time!

Disney gonna Disney, I guess.

I would not worry. This is just how Target marks all orders that are shipped.

They usually ship out a new release on the Friday prior to release and the delivery window they give ranges until the Monday of the week after release week.

You are likely to receive it well before then, probably a couple of days after release day at the latest.

Also, I absolutely love the gaslighting from Bill Hunt as to why Disnee won't use UHD100 discs: it's so they can put more stock of both Trons on the shelves for everyone to enjoy! Which is of coursh why there's been no problem with pre-orders whatsoever. What? Oh

Legacy is over 2 hours long and has a bunch of audio tracks on there, the crisp digital acquisition should help with the compression but it's a shame they're being so cheap. It's weird that Sony aren't continually putting their UHDs onto double-deckers just to make sure stock will be available, even their shitty MOD discs are still on UHD100. Hmmmm
Wow. What’s with the Bill Hunt shade? How is he gaslighting?

Isn’t Sony the one authoring these discs? Not Disney? Who makes that call of what disc is used? I mean Sound of Music is getting a 100 gig Disc and that technically is Disney.

As for the new “Young Jeff Bridges” effects, it’s no accident this is happening with a new Tron movie coming out. That movie most definitely has deaged Bridges. That’s a way theyd amortized the cost.

There's nothing you can tell me, we disagree, and that's fine.

Yep, that's my plan. If I end up with multiple copies that are all in pristine condition, I have friends who'll want to buy them at cost.

I have some friends who aren't even concerned with pristine condition.

I ordered two copies of the Connery Bond steelbook set, to be sure I got an undamaged one. Sure enough, one was damaged, but I sold it at cost to a friend who wanted it and wasn't bothered by the cosmetic damage.

The UK editions aren't through Sony, as far as I know, so they're handled very differently.

Disney titles in the UK are distributed by Elevation, not Sony. Funny enough though, Sony titles are also distributed by Elevation.

Elevation should just start a US branch of their company and handle Disney and Sony here, maybe they'll both be better then.

My Amazon order from 4pm central time (roughly 30 minutes after it went live) still just says received, but I'm not in a rush. I won't be going to the theaters to see Ares or anything. I may just cancel and go with UK versions. The discs will be exactly the same, even though I don't like the overuse of ratings logos, I can get over it fine.

See that my Tron Legacy has shipped from HD MovieSource, so assume delivery on Monday or Tuesday, earlier if I”m lucky.

Ironically, my UK steelbook of Mater and Commander has shipped form DiabolikDVD as well.

Still not close to securing a copy of Kingdom of Heaven, so I just purchased digitally from iTunes. Ohh, the horror!

Because he's making a demonstrably false claim that Disney's desire to have enough units is what informed their decision to use 66GB discs instead of 100GB discs, and somehow making it fans fault for being... fans?

Obvious gaslighting is obvious.

The studio that owns the movie and foots the bill for any mastering work would likely be the one choosing the disc used.

Just got shipping updates for my Walmart order estimated to arrive on Saturday. Though placed in the same order, each film shipped seperately from the same location via FedEx so hopefully they both arrive without any damage.

As someone who used to regularly go to Best Buy every Tuesday to pick up new releases, shit like this has made being a physical media collector ****ing miserable. I live in Los Angeles where there's Best Buys, Targets, Amoeba Records, Barnes & Nobles, and a single Wal-Mart.

I missed out on getting Kingdom of Heaven 4K because I didn't realize if I didn't preorder, I wouldn't get one. I don't are about steenboks, but I want to own the film in its best version. Master & Commander, the second I saw it announced, tried to preorder--wasn't up yet. A day or two later, sold out.

Tron, I never even saw available to preorder on Amazon despite checking every day. Planned scarcity on these titles blow. It would be one thing if normal releases followed 6-8 weeks later, or a repressing to replenish the obvious demand, but that doesn't even seem to be the case. Good lord.

Those were the days...we didn't even know how good we had it. Crazy that they don't even sell them there anymore, and now other stores aren't even getting stock of stuff with the steelbook limited stuff.
