Planting the word "if" in front of sentence does not make it a credible statement. If Boris Johnson wore women's clothing, he would be a transvestite. My use of the word "if" did nothing to make my statement valid.

Roku, Amazon, Apple, and Google want more people to use their products and services, not less. Arbitrarily limiting their customers to a single device, and one that they do not even make at that (TVs) is NOT in their interest.

Well, if the off the cuff rants of the caused real change then just think where your's alone would leave us?

He's just parroting the remarks of a senator who blamed video games a full day before he did. It is just scapegoating to deflect from dealing with the very difficult real causes behind such violence. Video games have been blamed for all manner of evil for decades now just like movies before them and books before even movies and we still have all three and we will continue to have all three.

So Apple and Roku and Google are going to end support for the devices they sell in favor of devices they don't sell.

Why?

Yes, obviously deflecting.

Roku want to push their own streaming service AND be a gateway to all others. No better way of doing that then controlling the method of entry. Same with the rest.

To be fair, it’s very possible that Boris (in my opinion) does indeed wear women’s clothes.

You still make no sense, not that that is any surprise. You have them giving up their very popular Roku devices in favor of a device, the TV, that they do not make at all. They can not exert any degree of control over something that they do not manufacture.

So they want to control the 'method of entry' so they're going to stop selling their own devices in favor of putting their interface on devices they don't own.

That doesn't make a lot of sense but okay.

And if I'm following once they control the method of entry they're going to...what? Force people to buy new TVs every year? And that's going to lead to the downfall of TVs?

So basically you're saying these streaming services are going to stop supporting their own devices so that TV are the only way to access their services and once that happens they're going to kill off TVs.

Is that about right?

Blaming video games is far easier, expedient, and simplistic than to navigate the mine fields of mental illness and gun control.

Video games, music, movies, and books have survived decades of such silly scapegoating and they will continue to do so. The tragedies will likely continue also until people are at least willing to discuss what the actual causes are.

The same could be said of you with the exact same amount of credibility.

I just saw on the news page that a Gold Edition of Scarface will be out on 4K disc. It will be out on October 15th.

We are seeing a lot of catalog titles getting released not only on blu-ray, but also on 4K. It is fantastic news and it bodes well for the 4K disc format and physical media overall. More releases demonstrate that the studios still see physical media as an important part of their overall business strategy.

Those of us that want the best in quality are being well served with all of these exciting new disc release announcements. The convenience minded can have their cheap over compressed streaming; I will be enjoying my favorite films with the best presentation possible on 4K disc and on blu-ray.

The cost will be insanely high and studios won’t allow the movies to be too close to the master for the fear of being duplicated.

Maybe shaped kind of like the old 8 track music cartridges
Hard drives always die, they only last a few years or maybe a decade at most. Discs rarely die, they can potentially last centuries. I'd say that hard drives are far more fragile than discs. I would absolutely not by a movie on any format that I don't think will outlast me.
