Surprised by that just because there wasn't a lot of talk of him being in serious trouble. From what I've read Richt is likely done coaching and he will likely focus on religious work. Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart has been viewed as the front runner for the South Carolina but he's a Georgia grad and would certainly certainly want the Georgia job.

Richt's been done coaching for years lol. Smart will be a disaster at either school so I hope he gets one of those jobs.

Clearly you don't have friends or family in Georgia. They've been calling for his head for the last 3-4 years, and the loss to Tennessee made it deafening.

I knew a lot of the Georgia fan base has wanted him gone, but the national media wasn't talking much about him being in jeopardy and their consensus seemed to be he was safe. Georgia needs to make a home run hire and there's no way of knowing if Kirby Smart is the man that can get them over the hump or if they should go after someone with head coaching experience. In recent years we've seen schools like Michigan and Nebraska (with both Solich and Pelini) not being content with winning 9 or 10 games a year and immediately going into a long tailspin after firing their coaches.

UGA fans also think they are a top 5 destination for coaches. I doubt they are top 5 in the SEC.

ACC Champion
Big 10 Champion
Oklahoma
Alabama or Stanford

Don't let the hate blind you. That is a top 5 school. Hell you're guaranteed 9 wins a year there. They just need to look for real coaches, Patterson, Briles, ect. instead of losers like Smart. WTH is wrong with them?

Seriously? Alabama, Florida State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, Florida, LSU, Auburn, USC, Texas, Oklahoma... all higher profile schools.

I agree that they have not competed at the level they should but they certainly can. They have a great recruiting territory just in the state a and also have have a huge budget for football. Facilities are lacking a bit but they are working on that now. You add a good coach there and they compete every year.

I don't understand how Muschamp is even being mentioned as a possibility, much less a serious candidate. You can tell how awful he was at Florida just by how quickly they turned things around immediately after he left. I know Muschamp did well his second year, but in his 3rd and 4th years when it was mainly his players on the team they were a pathetic 10-13 including the Gators first ever loss to an FCS team. It's also not like Muschamp has done a great job this year at Auburn as DC. Auburn's total defense is 92nd in the country. South Carolina isn't a top-tier job but it's still the SEC and they should be able to get a better coach than a failed retread.
