Custom Cover Art Thread

Hey guys!
So I made these covers for the 2 aired seasons of Hannibal. I tried to keep the aesthetic as much official as possible but i had to use these art. I think they refflect way better the series and the psychological aspect of the show.

What do you think?
Any suggestions or changes?

That's a pity. If and when you get back to them, there will be a shit-ton of folks eager to get the finished product. Cheers for the reply

Those are some fantastic covers, love them, dig that you used the glorious mondo style posters for artwork!!!

But since you asked, I do actually have a few suggestions:

The covers look great as is - but right now, the art you have chosen for each season does not jive all that well with the stories and themes of each season. There is a mismatch right now, and as such, I think there is some room for further improvement to make a truly stunning set by better integrating the artwork with the themes of each season.

Here are my suggestions:

Season 1, front art.
This artwork shows Hannibal as he appears both to the world, and to Will, throughout the majority of season 1. Somewhat unsettling, but he can get away with it, being a suave and charming European man.

Season 1, back art.
Throughout season 1, will is tormented by visions of this beast, not yet understanding what it means, or that he is under the influence and mindcontrol of Hannibal. Put this image where you now have the cast photo, which doesn't really fit with all the forced red. Maybe use different cast photos and put at the very top of the back cover instead?

Season 2, front art - use the image you right now use as season 1 front art.

At the beginning of season 2, Will now sees Hannibal for what he is, The Beast. This imagery of Hannibal as the beast doesn't show up until the very end of season 1, but is frequently used in season 2, as more and more see Hannibal for what he is. By the end of season two, everyone sees.

Season 2, back art - use the image you right now use as season 2 front art.
From the very end of season 1 and throughout season 2 is where Will sees more and more how Hannibal has manipulated him, and grows his own proverbial horns as he takes control and fights back. Cast images on the very top of the back or wherever, as long as it matches the season 1 cover. Lose the white overall color-scheme, go with black/red, like with season 1.

Season 1 and 2 belong together, let the covers match and reflect this artwise. The artwork, from front to back, from season one to season two, tells the same story as we see in the series (Will sees Hannibal as he appears, is tormended by visions of a beast and breaks down, sees that Hannibal is the beast, grows proverbial horns and fights back). Keep the black/red theme for both season and two, maybe go white for season 3, where things will be changed up considerably with Hannibal on the run.

Those are my suggestions, do with them as you will - but if you choose to implement them, in whole or in part, I'd love to replace my current covers with yours!

I was thinking of using a shot of Lee Van Cleef and one of Franco Nero, with the two titles shown similar to TGTBTU. Very simple, I'm just not good enough to make it proper. I made a cover for the Three Cornetto Trilogy a while back and I don't trust my skills. Didn't have any ideas for spine or back.

The alternate cover Mill Creek put out is decent but I can't find a high res copy of it.

I was gonna try printing some of these on my own, was just wondering if anyone has some recommendations for what paper to use to print them on? Thanks in advance for your input!

I personally use double sided, glossy brochure paper. It looks and feels the same as the paper actually used for Blu-rays. I've printed all of my Marvel Phase One set on that paper, and they turned out really well. Plus with you being able to print on both sides, you can add interior artwork.

Not a bluray but made these covers to put my DVD's in HDDVD cases (so they uniform with the Blurays)

1st cover based off the original VHS release. The other is made to be uniform with the first cover. As always, PM if interested. I might do these with other DVDs

Does anyone have any Exorcist 1,2,3, Beginning/Dominion covers they are open to sharing? I've got the box set incoming but want to split it up to include my DVD copies.

Or even just direct scans of the single disc releases?

I wanted to do this as well, but sort of gave up when I didn't have any luck locating the covers.
