Hold your wife's hand in the mall. Because if you let go, she'll start shopping. It looks romantic. But it's actually economic.

Are you willing to commute further than you're used to? You may have to. My city is flooded with transplants looking for a paycheck. Seems like employers are "clustering" in and around major city centers spurred by economic packages being offered by government. Also, are you tech savvy? Technology fields are exploding - particularly anything to do with apps. And they pay good money (for the most part). Might be worth taking a class or two.

The security field is also hiring. Starting pay is low but, hey, it's a job.

other than when i was managing a restaurant in my home-town, the closest job i've had was about 25 miles away. the others were further than that. i don't mind driving a bit for a good job, as long as i don't have to drive an hour. driving an hour, here, means you work about 2 counties away. and the gas i'd use would mean i'd have to get paid well above what the job offers to make it viable.

What are your public transportation options? I live in one State and work in another and my commute is about an hour and 20 each way by train. I don't know, man, sounds like you might need to do something drastic like move to a bigger city. You gotta go where the jobs are.

So I was thinking....

Trees have roots, beer has roots (root beer), therefore beer grows on trees.

Do actors work, I mean do they have a pt job?? I can't imagine they just stare at the four corners all day everyday waiting for the call.

Some of them do but a lot of them either have to make their bones acting or drop out of that rat race. Dog eat dog industry, to be sure.

The vast majority of working actors hold day jobs, it's just the bigger ones you see on TV/in movies that don't. But even they diversify by owning restaurants or having endorsement deals to pay the bills in between acting jobs.

public transportation here sux, imo. i'd have to call a cab to pick me up at home, which would cost ~$34.00 to take me to the last job i had. that area is where i've had several jobs and i like working in that area. but i can drive there, myself, for WAY cheaper. a bus? i'd have to go to the city, downtown, which is 14 miles. but with the construction, it'd take me about 30 minutes to get there. but, the buses don't run anywhere but downtown. so i'd have to have a job downtown to even be able to use the bus. but if i'm driving downtown, anyway, why even take a bus anywhere?

we don't have a rail system or anything like that, here. the buses won't run outside of downtown (unless you charter one, lol). and the cabs can get expensive if you're talking round-trip of more than just a few miles.

A lot of my friends became bartenders or waiters, some (like myself) quit acting. I do miss the after parties, but the audition process got tiring.

My favorite performance to be in was Guys and Dolls. Very fun cast, except for about three people that I hated working with.

I wish, but no. I’ve only done stage acting. I had a web-based show for a while, and I suppose if Netflix can get away with calling their webshows "TV shows" than I can too.

Anyway, I produced and directed it, rather than acted in it. And when my on-screen talent left the show, it ended. I couldn’t find a replacement.

Currently I’m unemployed.
