Maybe. I was watching it with my wife anyway. This is really a guy film. Made by "Guy" Ritchie...... (no....?) lol Maybe i'll enjoy it with a second viewing.

For everyone that enjoyed Frozen, this is on a different league. CHECK IT OUT if you haven't already..

The Descent

Director: Neil Marshall
Writer: Neil Marshall
Mains: Shauna Macdonald, Natalie Jackson Mendoza and Alex Reid

"One Hell of a Horror flick"

Plot (IMDb): A caving expedition goes horribly wrong, as the explorers become trapped and ultimately pursued by a strange breed of predators.

My Take:
Ok i haven't been this scared in a while. This movie is amazing. I have to take my hat off to the director for filming this movie inside a cave to begin with. Im not a huge horror fan, i typically don't like being scared but this movie did its justice. I intense survival flick without the over the top entertainment. Everything felt right and i loved the ending. Warning if you're claustrophobic STAY AWAY. This film is almost like two separate horror films. One half is the fear of caving, and the second half just adds on to the horror with these mystery beast. The acting isn't that bad, the story really makes up for its holes.

Conclusion: I cant think of a better horror film to recommend. I know that everyone will react to horror films differently but this one was pretty cool. The fact that its shot in a cave makes it unique in its own little way. The fear of being trap plus mystery beast.... It doesn't get any better than that for me. My final line is this is a nice little horror film that me and my wife enjoyed quite a bit. The ending to this flick is a hit or miss. You hate it or love it. I personally loved it, my wife hated it... This ending really bumped up the score for me at the end.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

4.5/5

Note: PQ 4/5 Allot of dark scenes
AQ 4.5/5 Your surrounds are used quite a bit with ambient sounds, and the bass get intense at times.

the best horror film in... well, in many, many, many years imo.
it actually accomplishes being scary, and it works in two different ways before blending the two ways together. the lack of a generic guy was a great touch, as was having SMART females instead of the cliched "omgz i fell and sprained my ankle" kind.

i love it. great stuff

however, the comparison to Frozen, is it because
[Show spoiler]both set of characters are trapped in a real life situation that isn't effected by a deranged killer but instead mother nature (that sounds foolish, but you know what i mean: Frozen - cold, The Descent - cave in) or something else
?

i think it was just the

in my list i loved both, but i have The Descent above Frozen. but both are great

Toy Story 3

Director: Lee Unkrich
Writers: John Lasseter and Andrew Stanton
Voices: Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack

"Toy Story 3 makes an amazing trilogy"

Plot (IMDb): The toys are mistakenly delivered to a day-care center instead of the attic right before Andy leaves for college, and it's up to Woody to convince the other toys that they weren't abandoned and to return home.

My Take: Its funny how well Pixar puts together a film for children and adults. I don't mean some vulgar type jokes that are displayed in movies like "Shrek" but more along the lines of intelligent humor. This movie also has the deep adult themes like the ones before it. Pixar is simply amazing and my favorite animation studio by far. This movie doesn't come up short at all, its actually better than Toy Story 2 IMHO. The character are rememberable and the dialogue is better than ever. Its really difficult to make 3 movies without losing that little spark the made the 1st an achievement. Toy Story 3 does just that, it completes an amazing little trilogy that anyone of any age could enjoy.

Conclusion: If your a fan of animation, movies, humor basically anything that has to do with movies you need to give this movie a shot and if you enjoy it check out 1 and 2. Pixar is the best at making children movies for adults... If you're a fan of Toy Story or Pixar this pick up is a no brainer. Simply a MUST OWN bottom line.

MUST OWN

Step Up 3 - Ok I am a fan of dance films in general and I really liked the first to Step Up films. I have heard this one was the best yet and I have been eagerly anticipating to watch this. I have to say as far as the dancing goes, this film easily has the best choreography. Each film in the series the dancing has stepped up (no pun intended.) Moose is an unbelievable dancer and the opening sequence was very well done. The setting of the film was great as well. The acting was decent and the story was decent but nuthin to deep. The PQ was great and the AQ is reference material!

After now seeing each film I do have to say I still prefer the first two over this film but I very much liked this film as well and I cant wait until part 4 is released. Definite recommendation for dance film fans and open minded movie films in general. The dance sequences and battles alone are worth the price of admission. Got Em!!

Film Rating - 4 stars (out of 5)

PQ - 4 1/2 stars (out of 5)

AQ - 5 stars (out of 5)

Glad you liked it too I compared the 2 because the are both survival films, they both have emotional ties, and both are being hunted by a 3rd party. Lets not make Frozen something its not.

Naw its not the same at all to me. The Descent was just like
[Show spoiler]The Cave or any monster type film with creatures after u. Yes they are trapped but its nowhere near the same feeling or situation as being trapped in Frozen in my eyes. Also there is a way out, but they just have to evade the creatures to find it. Also nature wouldnt have killed them, only the creatures. I mean they could hide out and not worry about nature elements unlike in Frozen where they would freeze to death.
I dont see the similarites really? Got Em!!

Have to continue to disagree.
[Show spoiler]Frozen is a real scary trapped life situation while The Descent was another but well done creature film. The only deadly life situation for them was being killed by creatures just like a lot of horror films. In Frozen that was a on a whole different level of what is called life situations.
Well have to agree to disagree there man. Got Em!!

As for your Christian Bale comparison to Daniel Day-Lewis... I think Bale is on his way up there. I wouldn't say that they are on the same ground yet, but they both have their fair share of memorable performances. It doesn't help that DDL has a couple of Oscars to show off.

I think you need to open them then

Here i'll compare for you. These are just facts and not opinions.

The same is happening in both films.

You can easily die in a cave, the environment (Falling rocks, and stable ground, being trapped) and starvation how about the lack of oxygen?

Hopefully that clears up a few things.

I guess you don't understand the horror of being trapped in a cave.. Nature could kill you easily in a cave. Try to get life insurance and tell them that this is your hobby....

It means a lot IMO.

We watch from the beginning as she is wracked with guilt. We (should) feel empathy for her as the film moves forward. A mother who has lost her child would feel guilt, but we watch and believe that she was being too hard on herself. In the end, we learn that her guilt is well deserved, which changes everything we felt and believed during the movie.

[Show spoiler]Perhaps.
