What i am trying to say steedeel because you are watching Tom Hardy in a car all the way through doesn't bother me that i own it on dvd instead of blu ray because my reason behind is just what i said you are watching him in a car talking on his hands free phone to people, so i am not getting any benefit with him quality picture viewing wise with him in the one spot hope that makes sense in what i am trying to say.

Like i said Tob, all content is enhanced by Bluray. Regardless of how basic the shot looks. I appreciate all the extra detail and the lack of artefacts.
Obviously, if a softer picture and less detail in rhe shadows isnt a problem, then good for you mate.

No i don't mean that about picture quality steedeel i mean in this case with Locke with nothing else going on in the movie for me to take in anything different then the dvd is ok with me for this film only but if their was more going on in the film than him just in the car then i be happy to get the blu ray do you see what i mean steedeel.

All this talk of Locke reminded me I needed it on Blu-ray. Yes, Blu-ray (with an HD digital copy included). I saw it originally on DVD at a hotel on a small TV, where it was fine that way, but after seeing it, I knew I had to eventually get it on Blu-ray for my own home viewing. My TV is twice the diagonal size of that hotel TV and even when I had a TV smaller than mine, DVDs were just tolerable, and my wife hates them. She's all about the HD. Heh

So I just ordered Locke on Blu-ray today (around $10 from Barnes & Noble, thanks to a Father's Day discount). Yes, it's not an action movie or incredibly dynamic visually, but it's well-shot with good cameras, as Steedeel pointed out. This isn't Paranormal Activity, where it's meant to look low-grade. Any movie that has technical merit deserves to be seen in HD (heck, almost everything should be HD. I own Paranormal Activity on BD).

I've been struggling with the idea of only wanting to get new releases in 3D or UHD just recently, but then you have movies like 10 Cloverfield Lane that don't have either available. That's when it's somewhat easier to choose digital or just wait for the Blu-ray to come down in price. In the case of 10 Cloverfield Lane, I'll opt for the Blu-ray. Like Locke, I really liked the visual look of the film, and it deserves the best presentation. Plus, it includes HD UV and iTunes copies, so it's the best of everything.

I'm thinking about ordering a bunch of old movies I love on Amazon that never came with UV codes. These movies were late 90s and early 2000s. Then do disc to digital on Vudu and now I have the best of both worlds

I see what Tob is trying to say, the Movie is good but the enhancements don't add to the story. To me the Movie was not a Keeper, and I think I did Rent it in DVD. If I wanted to watch it now, I would put it in my Vudu Account in HDX. I have done that to other old Movies. With my set up and equipment, HDX is the same as Blu-ray.

MovieStop & Hastings are going out of business. Wonder how that will affect physical sales going forward.

My local grocery store used to have some of the newest releases near the registers, and a rack or two for value priced DVDs/Blu-rays. Now they only have a Redbox. That's it. Just noticed this change recently. The times are always changing.

I have always bought online. Imports like the superb Camera Obscura are a click away. Never had it so good with cult/obscure titles and I have had to start pulling back on purchases for next year due to the sheer content available. Never had it so good. Wouldn't get those titles at HMV! Maybe Digital so the future but you would never guess in my place!

I'm not usually searching for very obscure titles, but there are still some items only found online. I used to show up to Best Buy and/or Target on release day, but then I started ordering almost everything online, plus I've been purchasing a lot of digital.

Still, there's something satisfying about browsing the shelves of the store and getting it in person. That's how they get you to impulse buy, and I don't mind doing that sometimes, as long as it's a movie I've already been interested in, or I can take the time to research it on my phone in the store.

It's just disappointing to see the in-store options dwindle. Not that I ever went to the grocery store with the intention of buying a movie. I can see why they did away with them.

we are seeing the opposite. Two years ago, our biggest store (HMV) looked dead. Now, it is stacked with Bluray and even Vinyl!
