I noticed a tear on my driver-side windshield wiper blade and I will need to replace it. Had I known that earlier, I would have bought one when I was at Target.

Sometimes I really hate living in a big faceless city. Well, I don't actually live in one anymore since gentrification drove me away but I work in one. Anyway, I don't walk around with my face buried in a phone like 95% of the population so I look at people when I'm in public. I get some really mean evil eyes from people who happen to look up at that precise moment I'm looking at them like I just cursed their mothers or something. The ones who give me blank stares just go back to burying their faces in their phones again. It's so disheartening. I don't know why I believe people will be different in smaller cities. People in Idaho are probably just as crummy.

I own a signal old flip phone that my wife and I share ..

Last Month
For the 1st time in years my wife and I went to this "up scale" Mall ( way past the regular old mall by our house )
We took our 12 yr old granddaughter to buy her some birthday items..

WELL, the Mall is packed, I mean packed, and everyone is walking around with their heads in their phone, and one guy was even pushing
a baby carriage with 1 hand while holding his phone with the other, and looking down into it not looking where he was going
( I almost shouted out at him "look where you are going" )

And all along the walkways of the Mall there were people standing in small groups doing the same thing, just looking down into there phones..
( reminded me of a scene in "I Robot", when all the old Robots in the Container yard were standing near each other in the containers )

But the main thing is almost everyone had a wire running from their phone to a pants pocket.

I had never ever seen this before! ..

It was my granddaughter who told me it was a battery for the phone.

The last time I had gone to that Mall, people were looking around at the sights, sounds,
each other, other people, and the store fronts

There have been some interesting discoveries in going through mom's things. A 1925 Singer sewing machine, a 1909 German tea set and more crap that makes my head swim. Today I unearthed a collection of old 45's. Most are dating 50's and 60's. Some Bill Hailey, a couple of Elvis, a lot of Fats Domino and Pat Boone. There's even a 45 of Al Jolson with his greatest hits!

Anyway, none of them have sleeves (bummer) and this is how I found them.

I need a getting rid of them plan in hopes of making a few bucks. Maybe sell the lot on ebay?

This is what it looks like. It's already been moved downstairs. We've got photographer coming tomorrow for house pictures.

This is what it looks like except it's dirty and there is some wearing on the design. Mom had it stuffed in a box in the back of the utility room. My mouth dropped open when I found it.

I hate that crap too. I'm 25 years old and I didn't even know there were portable batteries for phones. When I'm walking in public, my phone is in my pocket. Hell, if I'm only going to be gone for a couple hours, I'll leave my phone at home. I'm one of the few people my age who just isn't addicted to their phone. It's disheartening to see so many mindless drones enamored by their phones. My college campus is packed full of them. You never really know what you'll miss when your face is buried in your phone. I've walked past an insanely cute girl twice in the last couple weeks who locks eyes with me. Next time I see her, I'm going to say hi and see where it goes. Would've totally missed that had my face been in my stupid phone.

Does anyone feel that the majority of people these days are useless?

I know people that will call AAA to change their tire rather than do it themselves.

I also know someone that will drive 2 miles out of their way to use the only remaining "full service" gas station in my area rather than pump their own gas down the block.

1. I can change a tire. I even have a metal pipe that I can put over the tire rod in case I need to add more pressure to loosen the bolts. However, if it was freezing out, and since it's part of my roadside assistance, I'd be inclined not to fix it.

2. I live in NJ, it's full service all the time. But when I'm in other states I know how to pump gas.

I can change a tire, but I choose not to. I did enough of that and my body is too damn tired. So, yeah, call me useless.

I know I need to move the couch in the den to vacuum, but I'm scared of what I'll find under it.

Good point. If it was freezing, snowing, or raining I’d probably call services too.

When I said "these days" I meant new drivers, like people in their late teens and early 20s. Sorry for not making that clear. I’ve seen plenty of young able-body people that would rather sit in a car and wait for AAA to come.

I think a lot of it has to do with kids not being taught how to change a tire or anything like that. A lot of parents these days just don't teach their kids that kind of stuff anymore. My dad knows a little about cars and one of my brothers is a mechanic. My brother will fix the bigger stuff, but little stuff like changing my oil, replacing a battery, replacing headlights/taillights/turn signals, etc. I taught myself how to do. Google is a powerful tool
