I would rate this as the 4th best of the 4 Spider-man movies.

And yes I understand subtle acting, and I know that for the most part they were trying to avoid the Operatic style of Raimi, but if you're going the subtle route, make it compelling. The first hour of this movie was watching two teens making googly eyes at each other (and why Gwen actually likes Peter is a big ?????). Say what you will about the Raimi films, but at least we got a sense of why Peter and Mary Jane were in love, this was like watching a Summer's Eve commercial. And Garfield's Parker might be prettier....but he plays Parker like Rain Man, with some bizzare speech pattern that I can only assume is a combination of his being British (???) and trying to make the character "Shy."
I have to agree. I watched this last night. I already had seen it once in the theatre and had a lukewarm reaction. I had the same reaction upon my second viewing. I think a lot of it boils down to the miscasting. With the exception of Emma Stone I think all the major roles have been miscast. (Although Martin Sheen made an interesting but far from definitive Uncle Ben.) I'm not sure what Garfield is up too in this movie but his portrayal is anything but Peter Parker.

That being said, the extras on blu-ray are very good and quite comprehensive. I'm actually enjoying them more than the movie itself!

Anyone else encounter that? I noticed the Blu case is particularly fat on this one.

This is ridiculous, I'm about to just rip this slip off and tear it into 20 pieces.
That's hilarious, I had the same issue. It felt like whoever put those slipcovers on was playing a practical joke on me. I had the same feeling too about wanting to just rip the slipcover apart. Very wierd

I don't think you understand characterization, on-screen chemistry, and basic dramatic character arcs.

This explains why you like Raimi's films so much.

Many people seem to be having problems as well, though I saw some at Target that easily came off despite the extra bonus disc.

Ughhhhhhh. I got it. Had to push it out from the top so far enough where I could grab hold of the slipcover from the bottom and then pull it out/hold the slip at the same time slowly.

Yeah, because now it's cool to put people down for liking Raimi's well reviewed trilogy that has what are considered two of the best comic book films ever made. You know it's okay to disagree without slighting one another, right?

I was a hater after seeing it at the theatre. It was slight better at home.
Then I watched the Avengers and was still caught up in so many wow moments in the action.
I didnt really have that many wow moments with Spiderman. But now they have the origin out of the way i hope they ramp up the action and make that the drama vs arguing at the dinner table.
Part Two should be bananas.

And i had no problem with the lighting.

I hope they give him some back up web canisters since theyve returned to the shooters.

Loved it in Imax 3D. Just watched the 2d on my projector. Looked and sounded terrific. Maybe the best of the Spiderman movies IMO. Sorry Tobey

I don't even think you know what those are.

That explains why you like the Resident Evil's movies so much. Talk about mediocrity or even borderline bad.

That is an interesting observation. Some are saying similar things about her performance in "Lincoln". I am wondering if Fields has taken a different turn in her approach to acting, or if we are missing something.

Turns out it was a tie. Spider-Man also pulled in 72% from Blu-ray. Hooray for Marvel Movies!

Bestbuy.com has $34.99 for the steelbook price. So I guess it was only on sale for $27.99 for a whopping 2 days? The regular 3D version is still $27.99 online.
