That's ridiculous. His cheap shot seemed far more egregious than what the USC player did.

Edit - looks like sycro is right. He got suspended a game after all. They play Jacksonville St. next so it's not like LSU can't afford a one game suspension here.

If they were serious about teaching these guys some discipline and respect, they'd kick him off the team and cancel his scholarship, & the guy from the USC/Bama game, too. One or two of these at the start of the season would send a really clear message to every other player: act right, or your dream of NFL millions is over. If I did that to somebody, I'd get arrested.

The offense occurred in the first half. So, he is essentially being suspended for a full game (2nd half Alabama/1st half Utah State).

Personally, I would've given him a 4-game suspension (1/3 the season) just to send a message to the rest of the team.

This is a big reason why I think an 8 team playoff is ideal. It's very possible, maybe even likely that Houston could run the table and still miss the 4 team playoff. Make it 8 teams with the power five champs getting automatic bids and three at-large teams making it with one spot reserved for the highest ranked non-power five conference team.

Yup. Because as it is set up now, one P5 conference, either the Pac-12 or the BigXII, will not have their champion in the CFP this January, while the SEC, ACC, and B1G are guaranteed a spot.

ACC is only guaranteed if Clemson or FSU run the table.
