It may be the worst movie in the series but I didn't think the conversion was as bad as that. The editing is what makes it hard to get the best out of the 3D. I certainly would choose the 3D over the 2D version every time.

I will say that the choppy editing in dark/black areas will challenge many display technologies to retain contrast and depth. |

The MTV music video-style editing in RE: The Final Chapter was atrocious. It's a flat, budget conversion and not really designed for 3D visually. I can rewatch the entire series except this last one. Even Retribution and it's lazy story and 3D interaxials is passable in comparison. The first one has the best story and Afterlife has the best 3D. The Final Chapter--maybe check it out once to satisfy any curiosity, but it's best forgotten. It's not as much of a conclusion as it is a nonsense, retread of the previous films, still left open for more sequels.

Watched Shark Boy and Lava Girl. Never paid attention to this combo until Joe mentioned it, glad I was able to find a new copy for a decent price before it went out of stock on Amazon Canada.
I have to say, this movie is awesome, but in a "so bad it's good" kind of way that works. The 3D was great. I know I'll watch it again at some point, nice to have some entertainment that only goes 90 minutes. Sometimes you just need a break and don't want to spend a few hours watching a movie. Anyhow, the movie made me laugh and the graphics were so horrendous it was borderline psychedelic. There were times that the ground was a few inches below their feet (bad render), but it just made things more entertaining. Not sure I could ever watch this flat, but in 3D it's a future cult classic in my world lol |

I thought he was talking about the UK one, perhaps Universal tried to pull that move elsewhere in Europe too. Such a slight for 3D fans, although as you say, due to backlash they hastily reissued another 3D release with 2D disc included.

Yes i think the conversion is well done, especially considering how horrific the editing is. Can you imagine being the conversion artists on that? Having to rotoscope all those 1 second shots lol.

I thought Sector 7 was fun with some solid fx considering. 3D was pretty decent too.
I'm a sucker for monster movies/ underwater monsters too though, so that certainly helped. |

I got cheap. I jumped on this at $8. When I relooked it did say 3D and digital only. No big deal even when I have both I only watch 3D. I got a Pirates of the Caribbean 3D the same day and it came with 5 discs including dvd.

Watched Cirque du Soleil: Journey of Man. It was a Christmas present from my
mother-in-law. I avoided this for years after reading some bad reviews. It's only 38 minutes but the 3D during the performances blew me away. I had several wow moments. The desert flyover scene was flat but it was only 1:30. I thought the rest was fantastic. |

Watched Aquaman last night. I thought the 3D was stunning, and the film was better than I had been led to believe as well.
I've been working my way through the entire DCEU over the past week or so (in 3D of course). I had previously only seen Man of Steel (in IMAX 3D when it came out). Favourite so far is Wonder Woman, which also has great 3D - more popouts than Aquaman (spears flying, at least one bullet), but perhaps not as consistently impressive 3D-wise as Aquaman (but I preferred it as a film). Least favourite is Suicide Squad - 3D was fine but I didn't enjoy the film a huge amount; it was a bit of a mess. As for the rest: Man of Steel's 3D was OK, not amazing, but still added to the experience, and I enjoyed the film. BvS had better 3D (decent depth most of the way through) but I didn't enjoy the film as much (although still enjoyed it more than I had expected to, based on its reputation). Justice League, again, I enjoyed more than I was expecting to and more than Suicide Squad (and the full screen 3D really helped). Next up Shazam! |

BvS has great 3D but the Ultimate Cut is BY FAR the better version of the movie.
I still bemoan the 3D version of Aquaman not having the opened up AR. |
