Every time you take a step forward, you take two, three, or four backwards into absurdity. Not manly enough?

For the past few years I've been hoping Gerard Butler would get the gig. We're overdue a Scottish Bond.

The best Bond ever was Scottish, isn't that enough?

I've said it once, and I'll say it again, I don't want a "superstar" to be cast as the next Bond. I think one of the reasons Craig is a generally liked Bond (at least now) is because he was relatively unknown when he was cast. That allowed him to do his thing without too many strings or outside associations attached.

I've mentioned Luke Evans before. Sure, he's been in high profile films, but he hasn't anchored them (Dracula Untold or whatever hardly counts). I think he's got the look, the charisma (arguably more essential), and he's young enough to do it for awhile should he get a lengthy contract.

That's a good shout. I'd never considered Evans for the role. He could certainly make the part his own. But there'll always be one perfect Welsh Bond; The Dalton

So, I'm not really interested in most names suggested (fine actors, but I'd rather have something new for Bond). Oscar Isaac might be the most interesting one in my eyes, but he's about to become famous with another huge franchise some 7 months from now.

I think the next Bond SHOULD be someone younger and relatively unknown. The problem with somebody older is that they won't last long before they have to recast. To me, it seems like Daniel Craig is just getting into the swing of things yet Skyfall was only his third and they were already portraying him as broken down and aging. Get somebody in their early 30s, that's how old Connery was when he started. It's a mature enough age to make him believable and young enough to pull off the stunts and action without looking ridiculous.

Someone unknown is preferred too. If you get someone too established already, they'll probably insist on only playing him once or twice, his fee will be too large, etc. Again, Connery was unknown when first cast and it worked out perfectly.

Luke Evans would make an excellent Bond. I thought he was great as Bard in The Hobbit.

Damn, I hadn't thought of Mr Evans. With his thin face and angular features he's got something of Hoagy Carmichael about him, who (IIRC) was one of Ian Fleming's inspirations for Bond's "cruel" visage in the books. He'd be an excellent choice.

People have mentioned Fassbender as being a good choice for Bond. I can definitely see it, but I think he would be an even better Bond villain. Just think about that grin of his for a minute. He'd kill it as the bad guy in one of these films.

I'd always wanted to see Gary Oldman as a bond baddie, though I think his time may have passed.

I also tipped Ralph Fiennes to be a baddie too, although he has ultimately ended up involved, but not in the way I predicted.

But this will be his last Bond. Even more intriguingly, something will happen in the course of the film that will make it "impossible" for Craig to play Bond again. I don't know what that something is.

The knee injury Craig suffered was much worse than we've been led to believe and is now impacting how the film itself can be shot. But this isn't the reason for his leaving: It was decided before filming began.

This is actually a huge showbiz scoop you're reading. The source is impeccable.I'm only posting it here because I kind-of know you won't believe me. But it's true.

I suspect the rumours about Idris Elba taking over will turn out to be true but that's just speculation on my part.
Everything we've heard is this and Bond 25 are supposed to be a two part story. It has a cliffhanger ending, and I doubt that Craig isn't going to lead both parts to finish his time as Bond. It just doesn't ring true at all to me, no offense towards you. I just don't see it going that way.

Jesper Christensen (Mr. White) was also credited with telling a Danish journalist that he thought the Bond films he had been in were crap. Didn't take long before everyone bought into it and speculated that he would be written out of the next films because of it.

Of course, he never actually said those things. The journalist just basically made it up from various interview fragments.

So... I want a source on that story before I buy it.

Remember all the crap Craig got when he first landed the role and he turned out great. Fassbender is a worthy choice.

Sorry guys, it's 2015. The next Bond either has to be black or a woman.

I would actually love to see a female secret agent. Just maybe not as Bond.
