2020 is going to be a very expensive year. Star Wars and Middle Earth on 4K. I have a funny feeling that Game of Thrones: The Complete Series will show up in 4K by the end of the year too.
No way.

A lot of kids in the current generation like to pretend they are the heroes of the ST, just as people did for the OT heroes back in the day.

Hmmm now that the individual sets have been announced, I wonder if I’ll like the inevitable steelbooks?

I would love to support an official 4K release of the original unaltered trilogy, however at this point in time, I just can't see that happening. If the 4K release happens, it will be the "special editions", or in other words the ones currently circulating on Disney+ with all that Maclunkey goodness.

I am just really grateful that the team at TN1 gave us 4K77, it really is the best way to watch the original film complete with all that lovely grain. The 4K83 is ok, but its so much softer and has much less detail in the image than the 4K77 release.

Which is much less common and will be much more temporary. The low sales of the toys says it all.

Different times. We had much less stuff to be excited about than today's kids do.

My coworkers son (13) was a big fan of Kylo Ren, even though he was disappointed he turned good in the end.

Are they officially announced? Someone said they won’t be released until late this year.

Disney doesn’t announce catalogue UHD releases, they just show up for preorder.

I think this will get an official announcement due to the magnitude of the release. They’ll tie it into the statement when they announce Rise of Skywalker for the same date.

I see the individual releases are up and have their own threads. I think I'm going to pass on this unless there is something in the official announcement that wows me.

I'm likely to wait for either trilogy sets or a repackaged saga set. So far, this foray into 4k for Star Wars is pretty lackluster. I don't want the giant massive book set. And, I've never had these as individual releases on blu-ray. If I go that route, it's going to take up about double the room on my shelf and shelf space is at a premium.

If there is one thing I can count on is that Disney and Lucasfilm will do multiple repackages of this over the years. If you don't like the packaging and art here, just wait a year or two. There will be something new. In the meantime, you can watch your blus or just stream 4k on D+. These are NOT essential releases at this time.

Again, Infinity Saga was composed of ALREADY released 4Ks in a new boxset.

This^ is the debut of Star Wars on 4K. OF COURSE, there will be a press release and official announcement.

I’m very curious to see the disc breakdown for this set. If there’s exclusives, then obviously I’ll go for this.

If not, then I’ll probably just go with the single releases.
