After viewing this set a bit it really feels like the Godzilla Criterion collection was such a missed opportunity for a definitive collection. The multiple audio tracks and quality just blow that set out of the water. So many people grew up with those English dubs and they're nowhere to be found on the Criterion set. Some of the artwork in the Criterion collection I found really goofy like some amateur crap pulled from deviantart but here it's appropriate and quality stuff. I know it's Toho's fault mainly but this Gamera set is the clear winner.

Arrow UK currently has limited availability on Gamera Sets. 125 pounds plus 25 shipping to the US. Doubt there are many available since it says sold out on the top right corner. Good luck!

EDIT: Now Sold Out

Received my Zavvi UK order from last Wednesday today, pretty fast shipping for something from out of country.

Was shocked at how heavy it was. I can't even imagine what Deep Discount was trying to charge for the excess shipping by weight surcharge.

It was new but not mint condition, a few dings here and there and the top of the box is compressed in the middle like someone tried to pick it up one-handed and, surprised by its weight, had to squeeze extra hard.

All-in-all, it looks pretty good, the only real true eye sore being the UK rating tag, but I knew that was going to be a thing when I made the purchase. Just seems like the UK release was that much easier to get a hold of post-release...

Received my Zavvi order as well from last Wednesday. I was very fortunate it seems, my copy appears gem mint in every way, though in the war against the shipping sleeve box, the hefty Gamera won the battle hands down.

Outside of the region logo on the discs, the set is identical to the US release and plays on US region A players no problem, for those who didn't know.

Well, I received my Gamera set from Rarewaves today.

it arrived in a (barely) padded envelope - not my idea of sturdy packaging for international shipping - so there are a few places where the box is a little scuffed, and one corner slightly mushed, which also found its way onto the disc book.

The set was not wrapped; but a note on the packing slipped had this:

Quote:
Why is my item not sealed?

Please be aware that not all items from the UK are supplied factory sealed/shrink-wrapped by the manufacturer. However, please be assured that this item is brand new, bought directly from the UK supplier.
Well, OK. I guess.

I seem to be missing the "double-sided four-panel poster" (unless I simply don't know where to find it), but that wasn't even a consideration in my wanting this set, so I won't miss it.

I was seriously taken aback by the "Region B" markings on the discs, though. But I tried the first disc in my Region A player, and it plays all right, so maybe that was a mistake on the part of the manufacturer.

The fact that Rarewaves most likely has no more copies of this set (so I'd have to settle for a refund), and the hassle I'd have to go through to ship the set back to the UK just for the sake of a little cosmetic damage to the outer box, aren't worth it. The overall quality of the packaging and presentation (even though I'll be putting the discs into keepcases) make me satisfied enough with the set that the good far outweighs the bad.

In the future I'll be very wary of ordering an expensive set like this from overseas, though.

I am so sorry about that man, that sucks.

Maybe contact Arrow while you're at it and ask them for assistance.

The poster is in a slot of the front inside flap of the "book" that has the BD discs in it.

I don't believe Zavvi had it in stock when I ordered from Rarewaves or I would have used them instead. Given how quick this set dried up I didn't think it was worth the risk of waiting to see if it popped up somewhere else. I believe I've ordered items in the past from Rarewaves' eBay store without issue, but I certainly won't be using them again.

Thanks for the update. I expect my set will arrive in the same (unwrapped) condition.

*If* it arrives at all, that is. 1:15pm here and my mail carrier hasn't shown, and meanwhile the USPS tracking I got from Rarewaves (via a tracking number for an international tracking shipment site) still says "On It's Way to USPS"...

...I just want this all to finally be over.

Zavvi might not have made a difference. Last time I ordered 3 box sets from them, 1 came in a box and the other 2 came in envelopes. Of course one was dinged. That being said Zavvi seems to arrive about a week before Rarewaves so at least there’s one less week of damage to the box lol

Got my order in from Zavvi today and I’m pumped! Aside from
The art on the discs, this is identical To the US version.

The art is the exact same except for the regional film rating logo I think. Which you can hide in the sleeve till it's time to watch if you're anal retentive.

Hmm. Just noticed one of my art cards is too large, was sticking out of the slot and wouldn't go in. If anyone with a damaged set can spare the Gamera the Giant Monster art card please reach out. I did contact Arrow in case they would help but not sure even if they can what their time-frames are, especially since they may be working from home.
