I've had the same issues at random times where I couldn't get from one page to the next. Sometimes I couldn't log in at all, and other times I could click on and get into a section in the forum but not be able to open up an individual thread.

What Zarquon said yesterday makes sense, as here in the UK the whole site shuts down at 11:00 AM - usually for up to half an hour, but occasionally it can be up and running again in about 15 minutes or so. It varies from day to day.

I will be subscribing for the original content but will still purchase movies and anything released on a physical format. It will not replace my disc buying just as Netflix and Amazon Prime do not. I will buy the physical release of The Haunting of Hill House even though I can stream it on Netflix when I want. SVOD and purchasing are two entirely different things to me. SVOD is the equivalent of having cable. It would never in a million years replace buying physical discs.

For those interested in Disney✜, some detailed information here.

If you are using Amazon FireTV devices don’t bother looking for the Disney✜ app after launch, it will not be there.

That’s a big miss right there. Amazon sticks are hugely popular.

I take it this is a dispute that will be solved. Disney can’t afford that stance long term.

Agreed. I have 2 Fire sticks. I may have to use Disney+ on my PS4 if my UHD Player or TV don't get the apps.

Yeah, the PS4 is a must. Especially with 90 odd million consoles in the wild.

Having used all 3, I can tell you the Fire Stick is a distant third behind Roku and Apple TV. It's slow, not nearly as well organized, and the playback quality is worse.
If it wasn't so cheap and able to be easily jail broken, I don't know why anyone would settle for it.

Most newer TV's should have chromecast or Apple Airplay 2 so you should be able to just launch it from your phone

people settle for a lot with streaming. It doesn’t surprise me it’s so popular.

Not a fan of Chromecast. My TV supports it and I've used it with apps before, but the quality is not very good. I tried to watch DC Universe using Chromecast before I got the Fire Stick and it looked like a low bandwidth stream from Netflix. I stream 4K content from Netflix and Amazon Prime over my wifi so that certainly wasn't the issue.

I guess I should check to see if the DisneyNow is on the Xbox app. It’s on my flatscreen, but I don’t really want The Boy on it, unless we’re watching something as a family. I’ve usually streamed through it or my BD players. So I don’t have any experience with the sticks. Is there a particular brand that seems to have the best updates and apps?

I’m not a fan either. But it’s an option for those that don’t want to buy a dedicated streaming device.

Is it a Xbox One? Already confirmed if that’s the case.

I don’t see streaming as settling. Like most here, I use it to gauge rewatch-ability on anything that’s not a physical buy.

Thanks Steedeel. My son is still using one of my old 360’s. So I’m not sure if the app will drop there. I might have to get either a new BD player or stick. Ours are getting long in the tooth and not getting firmware or app updates.

I would say the Roku is probably the best stick. Certainly in terms of updates etc..

IMO, the Apple TV 4k is worth the money

Appreciate the feedback. At the moment I’m the only one with a 4K. My son’s tv is 1080p. So if I were to get a stick I’d probably go with a Roku. Although it feels a little like overkill for a few apps.

True, not long ago I saw the ranking of streaming devices based on the units sold and the FireTV was number 2 or 3. Amazon and Disney have been in a tug of war for a while.

The good part is there are several sites that compares devices, never used PC Mag for entertainment reviews but they compare devices here. Will repeat in case you missed, Amazon and Google have come to terms, Amazon Prime on Google and YouTube on FireTV.

The last 2 times i've seen my dad I've given him Gremlins and Scarface blu's to make room for my upcoming 4k versions. It's not taking up my nonexistent shelf space if it's a replacement.
