that's similar to how it is, here. no inspection. although your licence plate expiration month depends on your last name (first letter of your last name, actually).

U, V, W, X, Y, Z - October

here, your driving licence is good for 4 years (i've heard it's more/less in some states). and you have a 30-day grace period from the day it expires to get it renewed, or chance getting a hefty fine and/or a 30-day suspension if you're caught driving with an expired licence. also, our traffic tickets are on a points system; get too many (i think it's still 12) and they will suspend/revoke your licence. it's usually 30 days for the 1st offense and 60 for the next. after that, it can be up to a year and a $1000 fine. and if it gets suspended for a year, you have to take the driving test over again before they'll issue you another one. also, if your licence is suspended, you have to surrender it IN PERSON...you can't mail it in and you can't take it to a local police station. you have to take it to the state courthouse. for me, that would mean a 1.5-hour drive. of course you'd need to have someone drive you since you wouldn't have a valid licence; which makes it that much more of a pain. it's just easier to follow the rules, lol.

ours do that from time to time. i have a vanity plate, though (both style and numbering/lettering). so if the style of mine changes (numbering/lettering doesn't change), it gets sent to me automatically in the mail. it's an extra $50 on top of my normal tag fee. but i was willing to pay the extra for it.

My best friend had a tumour removed a couple of weeks ago and is now doing fine. There's a bit of a wait until the pathologist determines if it's cancerous or not. I'm hoping not, obviously, I don't want to see him going through chemo.

It's unreal that a person can try to live a good life and do all the right things, but still have to suddenly deal with some heavy shit.
I think of the person that I once was and that it isn't fair that my best friend has this in his life. It should've been me. I'm the one who made some shitty choices and am more deserving of what he has to go through.
I am happy that he has a great wife and some great friends to help him through this trying time.


On a side note, I see that groot is banned.
It sucks when people with common sense and good knowledge and are helpful to others, are not welcome here.

unfortunately cancer just don't give a ****. it'll take so much away from you, your family, and your friends. and it always seems to take the best ones, too. which REALLY sux.

i'm so sorry your friend has to go through this. and i can understand your guilt about it, too. but just be there for them and that will make all the difference in the world. by doing that, you're being a better person than you say you once were. and you seem to be a good person, now. so you're already doing good, as far as i'm concerned.

After watching several versions of A Christmas Carol over and over, I did notice something.

- It has never been explained, from the movies that I have seen, as to why Ebenezer Scrooge father disliked him and favored Ebenezer's sister Fan instead. This doesn't ruin the story, but it would be interesting to get an explanation.

In the 1984 version with George C. Scott, it's mentioned that it's because Scrooge's mother died while giving birth to him. I believe this is also the reason used in the 1951 version with Alastair Sim. However, in the novel no explanation is given (it's also a little vague as to whether or not his father even dislikes him) and his father is not seen but only referred to.

My fifteen year old cat died on Dec 21 and now I just had to call an ambulance to come get my dad because I think he was in the first stages of a heart attack. I also can't leave the house because my mother just had knee replacement surgery and someone has to be with her at all times. Shitty last few days.

An Equipment Operator here is showing some interest lately. I’m not actively trying to engage her in conversation but she sure is. She’s sat with me several times in the last month.
It’s funny that I showed interest in her a year and a half ago when something would’ve been possible, but she didn’t reciprocate that.
That time is gone though. She had her chance and I’m not into her now.
