I forgott that I had made this one a while ago. Ben-Hur VHS Style Cover.

JackKnightStarman, I never sold my custom cover art.

But imagine this scenario. If I took a digital photo of an artist's painting, and cut it all up into pieces, and then made a portrait of President Obama with those pieces. I definitely do NOT own the copyright of the original painting, but I do own the copyright on my Obama portrait, even if it is a derived work. It is something I created (from another copyright work), so I own that implementation. Could I sell it? No, not unless I had a license from that original copyrighted painting.

But what is happening here, to use my fake scenario above, is that the original copyright owner is taking my Obama portrait and selling it. They own their work, but can't sell mine (unless I give permission).

Do you see what I'm saying?

I'm "in it" for fun and the art also. But a custom Blu-ray disc cover is more than a picture.

Hey, I'm having a weird problem... I scanned my Batman 1966 TV series digipak cases to convert them to standard cases and everything was going perfect and looking wonderful... until I actually printed them out. The print looks weird, like almost inverted and bad looking color. I am confused because all my other prints are coming out fantastic and look as good if not better than official inserts. It is something about the artwork on these covers. Any help would be great! P.S.: When I sort out this problem, I will offer these by request.

Here is what I printed out, See how awful it looks? WTF?

I've been noticing a lot of this also and have kept quiet on the issue because I don't really feel like it's my place to say what counts as custom art and what doesn't, obviously there are people who are enjoying it, so who am I to say anything, but maybe we could implement a rule of one post containing images per 24/hrs or something like that? So as to give the thread a little bit of direction once again.

there's always going to be negative and positive wherever you go on the internet. if you're happy, keep it up. should you ever want to start adding more to your pieces, there are a lot of talented people here who can provide advice and suggestions.
a good rule of thumb of forum etiquette is to not have 3 or 4 straight posts with an image in each, but i'm not even sure if anyone does that here.

I don't have a problem with Sukie's covers. I don't use any of them but I don't mind seeing them. I don't share images of my covers on here because I know the quality that most people here demand is no where near what I am able to do. So I make my covers for me and that's it. I hope you continue making your covers Sukie because they are really neat and clean.

I don't even know if I will be allowing Nissen to share any of the future covers I plan on having him do because the people here are getting really rude to members that are doing there best and making covers that they like and decide to share them here with everyone. I think that Lomadu's Collection Covers are really awesome and they fact that they include no text on the back makes it easy to continue putting new movies in the cases for the continuing series'

I agree. I like the simplistic style they both go for and am using a few of their covers for my own collection.

i usually go through toxsic, but a client is asking for a reference and i believe toxsic is only doing cover art at the moment.
