Yeah, that's been rumored and I think it's the most likely reason for his absence from the poster. It's not a big deal if so, we have two other movies to catch up with him.

My theatre doesn't have online ticketing so the locals will have to brave the cold a week or so before its release to get theirs.

What happens if every showing ever in America is sold out? will movie theatres add more and more screens until every screen they have is just Star Wars?

I got my tickets, I think. I was having no luck as every ticketing site was crashing, but I went directly on a theater's site, and noticed they do the online ticketing themselves, and Star Wars tickets hadn't gone online yet. So I gave them a call, and got three tickets for 7 on 12/17!

Upside, tix are only $13.50 (+$1.50). Downside, the theater is General Admission.

EDIT: Now I'm worried, my CC hasn't been charged yet *nerves*

Before 6pm on Cinemark site they showed a few screenings around noon already crossed out and some opening night shows crossed out. Guess tickets are going pretty fast for some times.
