EDIT: Ah, I found in the Target BF thread that an insider says it will be a surprise Friday only deal of $10!! I'm sold!

That's like saying, it's "a popcorn flick, it's supposed to be dumb." Which I hear far too often.

That's the problem with so many movies — people forgive the lapses in judgement just because something looks cool. There once was a time when movies were both exciting AND smart. Unfortunately, people only care if they're exciting these days.

Odd, it worked out better than the last trilogy...

I think those fade outs are just part of the movie. When Spider-Man is doing his end swing I noticed the music suddenly stops & then a brief buzzing/rumbling sound & then it picks right back up but I don't deem the movie as being defective because of those moments.

Hope I'll be able to get to target in time before they sell out. $10 is a steal.

I just wanted to let you guys know how big and detailed and awesome the Spidey figure is.

He is slightly bigger than 10"scale (the figure behind the lizard is listed as 10") and is slightly heavy, has a rubbery feel to it. These were taken using the iphone, but the actual figure is not shiny. It's quite matte actually

Watched this again last night and I do really like it. I prefer the Raimi series but unlike most I like having 2 takes on Spider-man as he's one of my favorite super heroes.

I Like the Raimi version of Peter Parker/Uncle Ben story much better than the Webb version (even though Garfield is the better actor when it comes to showing natural sorrow). The Raimi version of "With Great Power comes Great responsibility" is very inspirational and the Webb version just didn't have that feeling, although
[Show spoiler] I believe Gwen Stacy is going to die in the next movie due to the ending where Peter agreed that some promises are best broken which could give the same lesson told in the first Raimi film
. Having said that, I found the extra showing the alternate take of what happens with Uncle Ben making more sense from the perspective of Peter doing the wrong thing and this take actually made me sad unlike what made it in the film.

On a side note I saw the 3D pack in the store with the figurines and personally I'm glad I didn't buy it because I was tempted. It just looks cheap to me and for what I would want I'm sure it would cost a bit more. The again I don't really care for the look they went for with the Lizard. He just looks odd to me.

-1 = +3

Wait til you see the next two and how it turns out instead of comparing one movie to three.

So far, I like it better than the other three, so I can compare them. And even if I'm comparing it just to 'Spider-Man', I think it's better than the first.

Exactly what I was thinking. I think people have that lasting impression that Spider-man 3 left. The first 2 were really good. For all we know the next 2 could seriously suck on this series. The 4th in the Raimi series was rumored to have John Malkovich playing Vulture. The rumor for the reboots series is Jamie Foxx is signed on for the villain. Take that as you will...

Or some of us just like what they did better? I like the less campy take on the character. That doesn't mean Raimi's films are bad. The first two are good. But I still prefer the new one to those. The third one isn't nearly the train wreck it's made out to be either. So that isn't effecting my enjoyment of the first two. 'The Amazing Spider-Man' just feels better to me as an overall film than the first did.

I'm not saying that everyone has to feel that way about the movie, but I don't think it's fair to say that people who do feel that way about the movie don't actually think that. It's all opinions after all, and no one's opinion is fact.

The good thing is that both series are good (at least IMO). The first two Raimi films were great and I did enjoy the third movie to a certain extent but there was too much going on and some parts (Harry/MJ) that just didn't belong in the movie. Not to mention that Tobey was starting to look too old for the part and Tobey/Kirsten didn't seem into their parts as much in the third film so a reboot wasn't a bad idea.
