The guy that used to do these and the one that started it was Deadset. He hasnt been on since Oct of last year so Im not sure what happened to him. Last year DGeneral started the thread. Its a couple weeks early now though so I would wait until the last week of Sep to start it. Got Em!!

Yeah, that's him. I've been browsing through some of the past threads from the previous years. Seems odd though.

I can understand if some folks might want to get a head start because of other obligations in their lives, but it kinda takes away from it all.

I don't think it takes away from anything. My wife and I will start in mid-September. With our jobs and other obligations we can't do movies every night. Starting early gets us through a few more favorites. We generally start with the lesser ones and work towards the greats in late October.

It started sept 15 last year, so maybe give it a week or so and the new one should turn up. you could always start it yourself if you want to get going now.

I'm afraid i'll burn out before Halloween if I start too early so i'm letting the anticipation build and will start around the last weekend of sept.

It's also partly a challenge to try and actually find the time for the movies while setting up Halloween plans, getting a costume, baking goodies, and working, which all makes the month more exciting and fly by.

Plus, starting in September is cheating, cheaters!

That about sums it up. It's all about the challenge of setting aside the time to rise to the occasion of catching 31 films in October. In the coming weeks, I'll pull my list of films together, and then dive into it on October 1st. The Halloween season is the best time of the year.

I watch horror movies all year long but I save a bunch for October. There will be some new to Blu-ray movies I will be watching especially Salem's Lot and I always have my annual Tom Atkins day viewings of The Fog, Night of The Creeps and Halloween III: Season of The Witch.
