i waited till vudu had this in 4k to redeem the code..... it didnt redeem in 4k....

Oh good, First Blood is one of those fun movies where the captions are completely different from what the characters are actually saying. Not distracting at all.

Yeah, Part II is a little better due to there being less dialogue altogether, but still distracting when it pops up.

This is one of my biggest pet peeves. A lot of titles end up with subtitles that just paraphrase what is being said and it’s so distracting.

It’s a massive upgrade in terms of detail but the Ritrovita color timing might be a bit YMMV. Personally I don’t think I can watch the 4K again since the beautiful, naturalistic cinematography is one of my favorite elements of this movie. IMO, the new color timing pretty much destroyed that.

I bought the series on iTunes a while back and honestly disliked the color timing.

Then, later I actually ended up buying the UHDs (mainly for all the extras) and still didn't particularly like the color.

However, I watched First Blood in full on iTunes just recently, and I actually found the Dolby Vision grading to be not as bad as I thought. Black levels are still a little high, but it's better than the HDR on the discs.

I still prefer the 2011 remaster overall, though. Not sure about accuracy, but it's the most visually pleasing to me.

Hello, can anybody tell me if the standard Blu-ray disc for "First Blood" --- that is included with the 4K Combo Pack --- has a different subtitle track from the 4K disc?

I've noticed from the posts on this forum and elsewhere that the 4K disc has poorly-done subtitles (like reading "he shot first" instead of "he drew first blood"), and I have been wondering if the regular Blu-ray disc included with the combo uses the same track or a different one.

I don't have the equipment for watching 4K, so I would just be relying on the Blu-ray for now, and I depend on subtitles for watching many movies.

I know that the older-edition Blu-ray of "First Blood" has well-done subtitles for the most part, so I was wondering about this newer edition Blu-ray that comes with the 4K combo. Let me know when you can. =)

The line here is "Well look John we can't have you running around out there wasting friendly civilians"

That said, while the subtitles are pretty bad, the picture quality is a big improvement over the previous one.
