Party Girl (1995) coming in March.

Quote:
Daisy von Scherler Mayer’s 1995 cult favorite starring Parker Posey comes to Blu-ray for the first time, thanks to a new 4K restoration from Fun City Editions.

Parker Posey fans rejoice! Her iconic looks and trademark laconic delivery are in full fashion in Party Girl, which looks and sounds more glorious than ever thanks to a new 4K restoration from Fun City Editions. Daisy von Scherler Mayer’s film follows Mary (Posey) on her screwball-like journey from a life of late nights and hangovers to romance with a falafel vendor (Omar Townsend) and a potential long-term career as a librarian.

This quintessential ’90s gem harkens back to ’30s and ’40s comedies while remaining firmly rooted in its own decade with its striking wardrobes and a stacked soundtrack that includes Tom Tom Club, Run-DMC, Deee-lite, Carl Craig and Ultra-Naté. Music supervisor Bill Coleman’s Peace Bisquit has made the entire soundtrack available on SoundCloud.

Founded by industry veteran Jonathan Hertzberg, Fun City Editions focuses on reissues of maverick repertory cinema which spans an array of genres, with a unifying focus on forgotten and overlooked treasures. Party Girl’s Blu-ray release marks the first for FCE with its new distributor MVD, as well as the first title in their ongoing AIP (American Independent Project) series.

FCE has previously partnered with distributor Vinegar Syndrome for releases of titles including Natural Enemies, Married to the Mob and Cutter’s Way, which we recently featured in our monthly Shelf Life column. FCE will continue to work with Vinegar Syndrome in addition to their new collaboration with MVD.

Included on the Party Girl release is the 4K restoration of the film, undertaken fully by Fun City Editions from the film’s original 16mm negative, along with new video interviews with Parker Posey, Daisy von Scherler Mayer, Bill Coleman and co-writer and co-producer Harry Birckmayer. MVD will release the Blu-ray on March 28, with a limited edition slipcover designed by Jess Rotter.

So much for the "logical deduction" claim on the last thread page.

Never claim things that cannot be backed up by evidence.

Some have theorized, possibly incorrectly, that Fun City Editions are getting access to the MGM movies through Vinegar Syndrome's MGM deal (similar to what Code Red and Scorpion did with Kino). So maybe any future MGM movies will be released by Vinegar Syndrome while all the other movies will be released by MVD?

If this is the case, it would explain why it seems most, if not all, the movies on Vinegar Syndrome's website that say "will not be repressed by OCN Distribution" were not licensed from MGM. Maybe those movies will be distributed by MVD in the future?

If all the movies in Primetime Panic Volume 2 are licensed from Multicom like the first volume, then it will probably be a MVD release too.

Party Girl is available digitally and the studio is listed as FilmRise so it was probably licensed from them.

I wonder if MVD would consider doing a subscription package for Fun City Editions like they've done with Radiance?

This could mean they're hiring VS to do restoration work, but not distribution. Effectively meaning they're no longer a Partner Label. VS does restoration work for Dark Force but they're not a partner label, and people don't associate them with the VS brand.

I believe that Jonathan Hertzberg said as much in a podcast a while ago (one of the earliest chats he did after Fun City started), so no need to theorize.

But that might be contingent on being an OCN partner label. Obviously the relationship and contracts are different now that Fun City is distributed by MVD.

If Jonathan (jah13) is still around these parts, would you mind clarifying the details of these new developments for us ardent FCE fans?

Wasn't making any statements or predictions about Fun City's future, only about how the label came to be.

As a girl who awkwardly partied and was a young librarian around the time this movie came out I am beyond psyched! Such a strong connection to this one! Parker Posey 4EVER

I haven't seen this before but as someone who's been in a library before I'm mildly curious.

Curious to see if they will retain the VS style thick slipcovers or not.

As someone who has read about someone on a message board who's been in a library, I also am curious. Mildly.
