You do not have a "theory" on attention spans; theories have a basis in fact. What you have is a baseless opinion derived solely from your dislike of millenials and their use of smartphones, nothing more than that. The scientific studies, plural, on attention spans are not wrong; but you are.

We do not have a lot of threats to movies. What we have are a lot of entertainment choices and that has been the case for a very long time already. Despite all of these many choices, movies are doing just fine and that is because people love watching them. I do not see that changing and certainly not in favor of this proposed interactive idiocy.

How many times have we been warned that the new thing will destroy the old thing? TVs were supposed to kill movies and both of these were supposed to harm books. None of it happened. Books are safe. Movies are safe. Everything is just ducky.

I remember a grade school teacher of mine who wanted The Three Stooges to be banned from broadcast TV; she was certain that school children nation wide were going to blind and injure each other mimicking the Stooge's slapstick antics. People have many unfounded fears that never materialize.

One of the aspects of this Object Based Borecasting crap is that it will let the viewer make choices that guide the narrative direction and outcome of the movie. This will involve being bombarded with menu choices every few minutes and I think that will begin to annoy people after the novelty wears off. Ironically, having to make such decisions repeatedly could require more attention to be paid than just passively staring at a screen.

It reeks of being a silly fad and I think people will tire of it fast. Having to make a choice every few minutes when viewing content will get old in a hurry. I get y just thinking about it.

Object Based Broadcasting is more of a threat via its ability for the viewer to alter the length of a show or films on the fly.

The more you raise the alarm, the less anyone will listen.

I need to watch it also.

I haven't even decided what to watch first on my new TV! Less than 48 hours until its scheduled arrival!

That sounds like a video game by Telltale. Those games sold so well that the company went bankrupt and had to shut down.

But sure, Steedeel, go ahead and stick with your fears that interactive movies will replace all other forms of entertainment. There clearly isn't any evidence to the contrary (at least not any evidence that you'll pay attention to).

The week ending Sept. 14th saw a dramatic rise in disc sales; overall sales were up 32.98%.

Blu-ray disc sales, which include 4K discs, were up a stellar 95.9%! I think that is the best single week result that I have ever seen since I began watching this data.

I wonder if that had anything to do with all the Marvel 4K releases that recently came out? Anyhoo, that's awesome!

There were a lot of Disney/ Pixar animated titles released on 4K disc recently, too. These Disney animated and MCU 4K releases surely helped to boost sales and these results demonstrate how popular the 4K disc format is becoming. It shows that many of us still value the best in quality and genuine ownership.

All of the top five sellers on disc for the week ending Sept. 14th were purchased primarily on blu-ray/ 4K formats. The percentages below show the blu-ray/ 4K combined percentage of unit sales for each title:

Aladdin (2019) (79%)
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (72%)
Avengers: Endgame (65%)
Aladdin (1992) (100%)
Men in Black: International (91%)

The top sellers on the 4K disc format had impressive percentage of unit sales, too:

Aladdin (1992) 4K (28%)
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum 4K (20%)
Avengers: Endgame 4K (18%)
John Wick 4K (17%)
John Wick: Chapter 2 4K (16%)

A great week for blu-rays and 4K discs!

Doubt it. Those didn't sell a ton even on their release week.

My guess is Aladdin '92 and the live action (09/10/2019).

I'm hopeful that the likes of Disney+, Warner Media, NBC, and even Apple will cause a world of economic destruction for Netflix and Amazon. At least the big Media Giants still intend to offer most there films and shows on physical Media...Netflix offers some and Amazon, very little...I feel sorry for all the 100's of thousands of movie rental places that went out of business because of Netflix and Amazon. It's to bad the families can't bind together and sue, it would be like spending your nest egg to open up a successful business on the side of a Highway only to find out that the new Highway was being built 2 miles away and all the roads rerouted to avoid the old highway. Netflix should be shut down and Amazon has weakened the flea markets and resale shops around America. Pretty soon no one will ever have to leave home... Walmart will deliver all of your groceries with automatic payments, all bills paid with automatic payments, all your friends are Facebooks, date on line, work at home be entertained from home...I feel like I'm living in a mishmash of Fahrenheit 451, Brave New world, and 1984...with all this new Politically correct and equal everything it's about time we all learn Newspeak and doublethink and doublespeak

The week ending Aug. 17th wasn't too shabby. Overall discs sales were down just 1.99% and blu-ray/ 4K discs were up 5.8%.

In England, many elderly people are now scared to leave their home, they would probably love it. It’s scary here at the moment. The amount of knives on the streets and our police force has been cut dramatically.

lol, who would that be? Me and a friend of mine were just discussing this. Once we all get those 8K full wall displays and they take our arms away, not much difference between those fictions and our reality as Gestapo like as all the Comments and Reactions sections to all online news is these days, I myself feel It's an accurate assessment...If only we could all live in a cooler novel

Knives? Here in 'Murica we dodge bullets. Shopping at Walmart alone can earn you a purple heart.

Joking aside, all of this is quite sad.

That does sound sketchy, England and all of the British Isles has a far heartier history of rebellion than the U.S. ...If things get apocalyptic, I think you guys on the other side of the pond will fare a bit better...

Escapism is one of the reasons why I just bought an 85" TV. It is my portal to whatever fantasy world I want to visit. As for a cooler novel to live in, I choose the works of J.R.R. Tolkien.

The mondo TV arrives tomorrow; it is beginning to get exciting.
