I was referring specifically to Marvel 4K re-releases likely not affecting 9/14 sales much. Usually, release week is peak sales then it tapers after.

Code:

Disney released so much on 4K disc all at once that many people likely had to stagger their purchases over more than one pay period. The steelbook collectors were especially vocal at how much it was going to cost them to buy them all on release day; they were worried that if they waited the steelbooks would sell out, but they had to risk it because it was too much all at once for some of them.

All of this highly popular content coming out on 4K disc could only have helped disc sales whatever it worked out to on a per title basis.

Your wallet is screaming? Mine died a violent death and now terrorizes me as an implacable poltergeist for buying that TV!

Disney's gotta pay for those 4K content they're putting on Disney+ somehow. There's likely a lot of investment to be made before their new streaming service is in the black.

Ugh, I'm one of them. It's really nice to get steelbooks with matching themes, though. I've only bought MCU steels for the movies I like although IM 2-3 and Thor 2 are really nagging at my completionist OCD.

Wait, so Disney earned 40M $ with Avengers: Endgame Blu-ray sales in one week alone ? No way they're ever going to give that up. I'm even more convinced that The Mandalorian will eventually get a Blu-ray release. Maybe not immediately but after a year or so. Come on Disney

That's revenue, iirc. No idea how much Disney's and retailer's takes are.

You should see the numbers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Code:
Weekly US Blu-ray Sales

Apr 10, 2016 3,420,540 $85,376,678
Apr 17, 2016 688,619 $17,187,930
That said, those are tentpole titles.

I'm sure there are plenty of Disney TV series that never saw a home video release. The saving grace is since it's Star Wars, it'd probably be popular enough to warrant a Blu-ray release.

The Flixster Video migration to Google Play began recently. The task of migrating most of my titles in my Flixster Video library has been a good success. It took me about 30 minutes to port over 49 titles to GP. But some of them won't port to GP from my country at all because they are not available at all or have some apparent problems with portability even though they are available on the GP website. I know that Season 1 of Gotham & Top Gear The Perfect Road Trip are not available on GP at all. Percy Jackson Sea of Monsters & The Monuments Men is available on GP but for some reason it's not able to port over from Flixster to GP. I sent a support ticket to WB Digital Support last night to try & reclaim some of missing titles. No replies yet but I will keep my fingers crossed for a reply.

I don't get why anyone who loves discs would waste their time with this. I mean, ITunes has much better quality anyway if digital is your thing. It basically means you own a back up but with severe compromises. Poorly defined backgrounds, banding, pixelation, less defined fine detail. I don’t get it.

I know what you're saying here. I even checked each movie title after I ported over most of the library to look at potential extras last night. But nothing was there at all when talking about special features. So yes; you are right to say that it is a service with severe compromises. It is really only a small benefit to my movie watching hobby when I can only stream the titles on the app or through Youtube Movies. Most of movie watching is still done via physical copies on Blu-ray or DVD when I'm at home. I like the security of doing that with discs. With streaming or download services; there is not much security to talk about when watching something from it.

Hearing reports in the UK that the Flixster to Google transition has left many titles unable to transfer. Some are saying only 10% of their collection is copying over.

What a monumental disaster Digital HD has been. U.K. and many other major countries didn’t even have the early disc to digital option either.

RIP

Not exactly it depends on the circumstances. a game like Dragon's lair you watched a short animation and then had to click, a movie, like clue, could be pick an ending, videoway back in the 90's had a feature for some hockey matches where you could pick to change camera a nd so the view of the game as well as an instant replay. You could always watch the game in the default camera view. I can see for a film like LOTR where a message " push A for extended scene" would pop up and you would have a short time to press the button before it is too late.

The problem with stuff like this is that it becomes expensive especialy if it is a real decision tree scenario.

It appears that many UltraViolet (UV) members did not sign up with Movies Anyhere (MA). The last figures I remember for UV was 12 to 14 million for the US and 21 million worldwide. MA says they have reached 8 million members (here). Not sure how the writer concluded MA has reached a “huge milestone.” It appears the writer did no know many of the UV studios sent emails to members telling them to sign up for a MA account.
