Wouldn't that defeat the point of an IMAX showing? I've only been to one, and while the picture was great, the sound was so loud it kept snapping me out of the story. Overall, I feel safer just sticking with the usual...standard 2D, no frills. |

That's fine because of the fire so it's natural to cause the anamorphic lens flare. Even if it's artificial is also fine if the source light is logical to the scene, but if it comes out of nowhere then that's a no for me.

So now I got to wonder, after reading this page, http://www.imax.com/community/blog/s...s-on-sale-now/ , will IMAX not be doing 3D 15/70mm film prints? I know they're doing 2D 15/70mm film prints but I'm one of the few that actually prefers 3D and there isn't any of the new laser setups in my area (Not that I'd want that over film anyways but still). Also the only 2D film print near enough to me is in a dome theater and I'm not sure how I'd feel about seeing a movie like this in a dome theater mostly because I've never seen any movies in a dome theater.
EDIT - Seeing the movie listed on this page gives me hope, https://www.imax.com/theatres/t/lock...-space-museum/ Last edited by DaFees; 10-20-2015 at 09:36 AM. |

Dude, I'd sacrifice all your souls to be able to see the 2D 15/70 print, but it seems as if there are no UK locations on there.
![]() [edit] Even though it's damned cool that they're doing 15/70 at all (and this may well be the last, unless BvS can wrangle a few more prints out of them) it's a damned shame the premier 15/70 location in the entire UK (BFI IMAX) isn't on there. It hasn't got laser yet, it won't apparently get a 15/70 print, so we'll have to make do with a 2K projection? **** that noise, jack. Last edited by Geoff D; 10-20-2015 at 09:39 AM. |

That trailer was superbly put together, showing a lot and not a great deal at the same time. There was no 'End Game' reveal in it, unless we are going to assume that the Starkiller Base on the poster and the X-Wing/Tie Fighters duelling over the ice planet is infact the base. Got a film lecture this afternoon, going to download a full HD version of it and show it after the lecture. No way before!

I was not expecting that! Visuals aside (a huge departure from the sand and space settings of previous films) this has me intrigued.
I felt shivers, and I'm not even a hardcore SW fan. I still believe the 3 main leads will echo the Luke, Han, and Leia character beats, and the new trilogy will ultimately focus on destroying a resurgent Empire, but overall it seems fresh enough to warrant getting excited over. I hope JJ delivers. I did not find his Trek films compelling at all. |

It's kinda confusing how some of you guys are afraid of LucasFilm turning a branded character like Luke evil, and ending the most important film on their docket on such an audience-enraging note.
Rest assured, that's not happening. Luke is not evil, film is designed from the bottom-up to be a massive crowd pleaser because it has to be. It's the cornerstone upon which all of LucasFilm will rest. No way on this Earth or any other Earth that they turn that guy evil. Sure, they'll try and misdirect you for much of the movie until Real Luke shows up and kicks ass. But audiences will pour out of the movie screaming with joy. It has to be that kind of movie. |

Yeah, we can be cynical and say that they've done it so they can retell the story of the Force all over again for a new generation of fans, with Rey clearly in the "restless inhabitant of dustbowl planet who longs for some offworld excitement" role, but I honestly like where they've gone with it. We got the big celebration at the end of Jedi, granted, but there's no way the Imperial Navy would've just folded after that and they've fought an attritional civil war with the 'New Republic' ever since. Now that their new superweapon (Starkiller Base) is ready to rumble, they're on the charge again. (That celebration can now be viewed much like those in I or IV, e.g. darker times always follow a big blow-out in Star Wars. In that respect the original version without the planet montage will work a lot better leading into VII.) |

The planet montage in "Jedi" still works though, since Palpatine had so many systems under his control. Without him, the Empire has no structure; its all just a bunch of thugs fighting for supremacy. I strongly suspect the so-called "First Order" will end up being just another splinter group, and Kylo Ren the true threat. But it would be even better, if another manipulator was pulling strings. Otherwise, the series just devolves into one "kill the current Sith" story, ad infinitum.

When reading the Shattered Empire comic, which takes place just after the events of RotJ, it's clear that the Empire has no real intention of throwing in the towel. They even show Palpatine having recorded instructions for the remaining forces as a contingency plan in the case of his demise. The Emperor may be gone, but his forces, intentions and legacy still lives on.
EDIT: Not unlike the Saw-films, where Jigsaw's plan spans an additional four films after his death. ![]() |

Right because once peace is had.. it lasts forever and ever. Especially in the galaxy. ![]() I'd say 32 years of peace is pretty good and the battle did it's job. Fear not though Luke will not be "evil" in this film. Something else might happen you (everybody?) may not like though. |
