Seems like a good deal, where ya shopping?

It really depends on how many titles you plan on purchasing and if you are able to use the $5 coupon more than once (it depends on the store employee). Also the membership lasts a year so you can use if for the eventual July sale next year and maybe even next year's November sale if you buy this year's membership late in the sale.

**Also there is a 2 month trial membership going on right now so would be perfect for this sale:

I don't think it matters anymore about who is running the register. The last time I tried bunching a couple of coups, the manager tried to override, when the register wouldn't take both coups. The thing is, they scan the BD first, then your membership card, then any coupons. All of the individual stores databases are set up the same way. Unless they can override the register, it's no dice. The manager of my store said that BN was cracking down on bunching coupons, so I think we are all out of luck.

There have been two sworn testimonies from posters about store employees and registers stating Nov. 8 or Nov. 9 and another sworn testimony for Nov. 2.

I'll believe it when I hear about it the VERY weekend before the sale begins, as most BN store employees don't find out about it until then.

Will it go 2 weeks or 3 weeks?...once again...stay tuned!

I could be wrong, but I don't think he was talking about "bunching" (I assume you mean 'stacking') coupons. As far as using the "single use" 5 dollar coupon multiple times, it very much depends on who is running the register, because I used it many times last sale.

when they send you the e-mail for your order has shipped, you will see the price they charged you. That e-mail they send is basically telling you that you cannot cancel now. Looks good on paper, but the shipped e-mail will foil your happiness....

right, but like rkish said, B&N is cracking down on the discount on top of discount. They did it with the last online sale after the first day. You could no longer stack coupons and it was even stated under every Criterion sale page that additional discounts would not be accepted. I think the same is going to happen, as their system already will not allow stacking a coupon on top of the library or military store discount. At store level, there are only so many things a manager can do to take a coupon before he says it will not take it, which I am already hearing on these pages. Whether you are a member or not almost seems to be moot now, as the stacking of the extra member coupon may not be allowed anyway.

Thanks for the heads up - just ordered Seven Samurai on-line, along with the free membership, and there's a 15% off coupon floating around as well. $26.34 shipped, and the membership is ready to go!

Yes...I meant stacking...couldn't think of the word until sometime after I posted.

What is your favorite Criterion DVD?

Mine is without question, "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" , its a bummer Criterion did not do the blu-ray so this is one movie where I have to have the SD Criterion version and the blu-ray version.

#2 is Seven Samurai, I recently bought the blu-ray but have not watched it yet. I am looking forward to watching this blu-ray because I hear its pretty good.

Yeah.......that sucks. Oh...............Dang. I forgot what I wanted to just now tell you. Oh well. I'll let you know when I remember........

But to the "Fav Criterion". My fav isn't because of Criterion, because I could give a **** less who released it (and Criterion, being "film fans" would respect that), but thank you Criterion. Anyways, it would be Made in USA (Yeah I said it. I could of got the other Godards another place.) or the Cassavetes boxset.

I'm actually excited for the next B&N sale. I could finally get the "long overdue for me French New Wave lovin' self", Rohmer set. I believe that will complete my Criterion-French New Wave titles.

Prob skipping through all of the OCT releases. I'm not going to be buying much through Jan.

What I am thinking of buying not just in the B&N sale, but through Jan unless something changes:

Rohmer set
BBS blu set
Night of the Hunter blu
Basil Dearden Eclipse set

I'm prob the only person that is NOT getting Modern Times (I'm a Buster guy), unless something changes until then, like a new job.

I was pretty impressed with The Complete Mr. Arkadin. Certainly not the best film they've ever done but the transfer was outstanding and reconstructed 'cut Welles wanted but never got' was well done.

The Third Man has the be one I've watched the most though.

I like the OCT releases, but don't LOVE the Oct releases. I have Seven Samurai and Paths of Glory on dvd already anyways. So they can wait.

Nov. I am a HUGE Hopper fan and fan of New Hollywood in general. So 100% getting the BBS set. Night of the Hunter is one of my fav American movies, so sorry Modern Times but Nov goes to the 2 of my fav movies.

Dec is very very simple. PASS. Jan is for the Eclipse.

Unless someone wants to hire me or give me a Modern Times?

Edit: Oh and also, Kino's Keaton release in Nov is a must for me too. So Chaplin or Keaton? Hmmmm, EASY!
