As much time as I spend on this forum, I was not aware he label releases An Actor’s Revenge until the current B&N sale started. Just walked into a store and found it .

[QUOTE=WeeBey;15323669]Can you guys help me identify the horror movies Criterion has released on Blu-Ray? If you filter for horror on their site you get the list of titles below but this isn’t everything I would consider horror in the collection. For example, I would include movies like Salo, Kwaidan, Ugetsu, and Night of the Hunter.

I'd consider THE PHANTOM CARRIAGE a horror film.

How does the PQ for The Red Shoes Blu-ray compare to the best Criterion Blu-rays today. Does it still hold up in the same way or is it a little less impressive nowadays?
The Red Shoes looks exquisite. With how much re-releasing Criterion already does, the last thing we need is a 2nd Blu-ray of it.

Mulvaney has confirmed that the upcoming Bergman Box Set will not just have English subtitles for his foreign-language films, but will have English SDH subtitles for the two films that feature English-language dialogue.

As someone who's petitioned Criterion to fully subtitle their films for Deaf and HOH audiences, I'm absolutely thrilled.

My A Matter of Life of Death BD just shipped and I couldn’t be more thrilled. It’s a blind-buy but having seen and loved the other three films by The Archers on BD, I’m sure is going to be fantastic!

Thanks. I believe Criterion hasn't reissued titles unless it's a format upgrade (DVD to Blu-ray) or splitting apart box sets or dual format editions. With the upcoming Bergman box set, I think The Seventh Seal will be the first Criterion Blu-ray to get re-issued in the same format but with improved PQ. I wonder if this will begin a new trend. But it sounds like you're saying that The Red Shoes really can't be improved upon in any significant way that would merit an upgraded re-release (short of a 4K UHD).

As would I. I first saw it three months ago (along with Night Nurse) when I started a run on Barbara Stanwyck films. Eleven down, and fourteen more on my DVR yet to watch.

Criterion could get those two, Stella Dallas (for the love of God, please!) and upgrade The Lady Eve, and have one hell of a start on a box set. I'd love to see Ball of Fire in there, too. What an eclectic group that would make.

Absolutely. And strong!

In every performance, even when her characters are what we'd consider "less than scrupulous", Barbara always manages to evoke empathy from the viewer. You can find her appalling (yet oddly compelling) one moment, and then she'll rip your heart out the next. She was an absolute master of her craft, one of very few actresses to possess limitless range.

Are there any other movies Criterion has released on Blu-Ray that one might consider horror or give off horror vibes?

I hope you like it, but as a massive fan of P & P I was severely underwhelmed by it.

You're close; "Playtime" was first, and I believe that a reissue of "Monterey Pop" was either recently released or is imminent.

But those are still very good numbers, it's very rare (so far).

I watched The Double Life of Veronique and The Virgin Suicides last night.

Somebody give me a hug. Both great films, but.....wow.

I have to get to Dekalog. And soon. After Veronique, and The Three Colors trilogy, Kieslowski is fast becoming one of my very favorite directors.

He's great, and yeah those two films are a double whammy of beautiful sadness.

Has anyone else made the decision to only pickup criterion releases at the store ,rather than have them shipped due to the condition they arrive in from the shipper(UPS)? i ordered ''Che'' along with other releases (that arrived about a week ago in regular condition), but Che arrived today, and it looked bumped and opened, with the square corners now rounded. unfortunately, i took the shrink wrap off, so i can't ship it back. suffice to say, l will only pickup my future orders from the store, if available.

Is the Apu Trilogy out of print now? It looks like it is. Only third party sellers have it.

Such a shame if it is. A brilliant film series. One of Criterion’s most important releases.

For those who don’t have it, if you can find it at a local B&N I highly recommend it.

It's in-stock on Criterion's site. If it was OOP it would state so on Criterion. Probably just stock issues.

I sure hope not because I still need to get it. However my B&N had it today but I’ve spent too much already.
