Well, obviously, since they're re using the designs from the original trilogy, while the prequel trilogy was an extension to that universe, creating new worlds, new characters, new alien species, new vehicles, new droids, etc. With this they're just doing the original trilogy all over again. Which I guess it's not bad since it's what everybody wants.

But people sh!ts so much on the prequels when they have so much going for them. It expanded the SW universe with completely new stuff. Music is excellent. Visual effects are still really good in my opinion, the pod race still to this day looks unbelievable and it was made in freakin 1997-1999!!!! With the exception of the bits added to the DVD. Sure, they're flawed and not perfect, but not nearly as bad as people make them to be.

However, after looking at it, it isn't Han on she is crying over it. I believe it to be Finn.

I believe you see the cuffs of the jacket, and it looks like the one Finn wears:

Oooh, didn't think of that. If
[Show spoiler]Chewie does end up going to that great tree dwelling in the sky then this won't be Ernest's "screaming for joy" experience after all. It'll be funny if they do it though because of all this guff about cancelling the EU, and what do they do? Pinch a key point from the books. Wonder if we'll get a cloned Emperor soon?

I was finally able to score tickets for a Thursday night showing.

Unfortunately I won't be seeing it with my friends that night; they purchased tickets for the 7pm non-3D RPX showing. I have tickets to a later showing in RPX 3D at 10:15pm.

We do plan on seeing the film again together as a group.

Except they're NOT. There's already dozens of designs completely new to this particular film. We've had new planets, new characters, everything.

The PT really just doesn't fit with the OT. It's design is WAY to clean for something 19 years earlier. It's sterile. Even the plot contradicts the OT in several ways.

I LIKE the prequels, but I'm sick of people trashing TFA with this stupid "well it's not Lucas so, neeeerrrr" crap. They are NOT the standard for Star Wars. Even Rebels and Clone wars were superior to those films. There's more than enough room in the galaxy for all three trilogies.

The PT gets hate, because they were not as good as they should have been. They're enjoyable, but disappointing films. Period.

Hope this isn't too off topic, but this takes me back:

I especially like the guy who said "I think that little Anakin Skywalker, everyone's gonna say it, stole that movie."

Two trailers and TFA already "feels" more like Star Wars than the prequels (with no disrespect to George Lucas, who I've defended from many).

Not only does this look more promising than Phantom Menace, but I'm confident that Disney will ensure the absolute best movie if only because if their first Star Wars movie right out of the gate is bad, it throws a wrench in their big plans for Star Wars. This movie will be great... Disney is banking on it.

And you can feel the love and the effort that went into this from the people who made it. It's apparent in these trailers. I think this movie is going to be special.

Something tells me that if this were the exact same trailer but the film was directed by Lucas instead of Abrams, he'd be praising the sh!t out of it.

I didn't expect that new trailer to be so emotional. Nearly wept as I watched it on the toilet this morning and I'm 'I was a kid in 1977' years old.

The Prequels weren't suppose to goddamn fit with the Originals, asthetically. That was intentional. Thought people would've figured that out by now.

But do you want the real reason why they don't?

The Prequels, visually, line up with what Lucas imagined in his head for Star Wars all the way back in '73. What you have with the Orginals is Lucas settling for what could be achieved then. It's really that simple.

Had Lucas had the tech all along, the precious Originals wouldn't look as they did, theatrically...hence the constant tinkering.

He never betrayed the story/essence of Star Wars with the tinkering. He just wanted it closer to his imagination for the three films.

With Prequels, he got what he wanted...three films that really went out there to create something visually different that hadn't been done.

It's common place now in films because of technology but if it wasn't for JURASSIC PARK and THE PHANTOM MENACE, you wouldn't have THE FAN FICTION AWAKENS.

My local theater will be having 3am showings of Episode VII. Not just the marathon, but a regular 3D IMAX screening at 3am on the 18th. I guess they figured since they will essentially be open 72 hours straight that weekend, they might as well make as much money as possible.

I am pleased to read that others were underwhelmed by this trailer. Thought I was the only one. I am going to see it, absolutely, and will buy the Blu-ray Day 1, but I'm just not jumping-over-my-couch excited about the trailer.

I thought the trailer was great. BvS was my most anticipated movie but I think this just passed it up.

Ok dude, first of all, chill!

Second, I really would like to know (I think I even asked you this once before but never got an answer) how making Greedo shoot first or pointlessly placing rocks in front of R2 or making Vader say no are things that bring the story closing to his original vision or are things that the technological limitations of the time prevented him from achieving the first time around.

Third, if the prequels really are what he wanted all along, then it's a GOOD thing he was bound by the limitations at the time when he made the originals.

And finally, in regard to all this "the new Star Wars stuff being made doesn't count because the saga is already complete and the infallible Mr. Lucas who apparently walks on water is having no involvement with it", you do realize that Lucas himself gave his blessing for new creators to come along and tell new SW stories without his involvement, right?

Ah, so the technology to put rocks in front of Artoo didn't exist in 1977. Gotcha.
