I have to admit I didn't watch Community this season. Well I did watch the first two but then I dropped it because it didn't grab me like Modern Family did. But two weeks ago I caught the Modern Warfare episode and laughed my butt off. I still ended up missing last week due to Survivor. Luckily I remembered to watch it last night and it was the best season finale for a comedy this year. I so would have picked Alison Brie as well.

It's something I will add to my tv roster in the fall.

I think that was my favorite part of Alan's review too. Between Community and Bones there are two very strong Aspie characters, and I'd assume one of the nerds on Big Bang probably has it too lol.

Yeah I pretty much only wear black shirts myself, but the Annie Adderall shirt is awesome. It's proof Community has hit the big time, I wonder how long before a Kick Puncher shirt comes out?

How weird is this? He'd probably have to leave the show to do this new franchise....My personal favorite choice for the role so far has been Jamie Bell.

The Twitter Campaign to Put Donald Glover in Marc Webb’s SPIDER-MAN Reboot

Last week, we reported about five actors rumored to be on the shortlist to play Peter Parker in Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot. The website io9 ran an editorial about why they didn’t want yet another white guy superhero–a sentiment I couldn’t agree with more. The people in the comments section of the editorial came up with a sixth name that should be on the list: Donald Glover (Community, Mystery Team). Glover is charismatic, funny, and age-appropriate for the role. He’s also a huge fan of the character. In response, the actor/writer/comedian began a Twitter campaign for the chance to audition for the role. Tonight #donald4spiderman became the third-highest trending topic on Twitter. The Facebook campaign has also amassed nearly 4,000 fans and climbing.

I’ve had trouble finding a single person who thinks that Sony’s decision to reboot Spider-Man was a good idea. We’ve heard “Oh, it will be gritty and contemporary” this time, as if the Raimi Spider-Man movies were mindless action films. To cast Glover or any actor who challenges the notion of what Spider-Man has been or can be would provide a reason for this reboot’s existence, elevating it from the cynical cashgrab it currently is.

We ran an editorial last year suggesting that Will Smith would make a good Captain America. The comments section exploded in controversy, even though there was at least some basis in the comics for a black Captain America. I don’t know if fans would accept a non-white Spider-Man, but I don’t really care. It’s not an affirmative-action move. It’s asking the question: is there anything inherently white about Spider-Man’s story? Yes, Stan Lee wrote Peter Parker as a white character, but is there anything about that character’s story that wouldn’t work for a man of any non-white ethnicity?

Even Glover says he shouldn’t be given the part outright, but I agree that he deserves the chance to at least audition. I know studios are scared to do anything risky when it comes to an $80 million movie, but I’m willing to bet there’s going to be a lack of enthusiasm for this reboot if people don’t see anything fresh about it. Casting a young, talented non-white actor for Spider-Man would get people talking about what is currently a movie with no reason to exist.

I would like to see Donald in some serious roles in the future. JGL will become a mega-star after Inception hits theaters next month, fame that is very long overdue for someone who's been so great in so many movies for 20 years now. Hell I'd even love to see JGL show up as a guest spot on Community. That would be awesome, a possible high school football rival of Troy's.

Not being racist but absolutely NO black Spider-Man....I like Donald Glover but Peter Parker is not black.

Superman isn't black, Batman isn't black.

Green Lantern would be fine (John Stewart)

Even Kingpin being black wasn't bad...but not a major iconic character.

Yeah I know, there are already black superheroes that Donald could play, though I do find it funny that this is such big news already that it just made the front page of Yahoo, either way Donald's celebrity profile just got a huge push from mention alone.

I'm down for all of that, I just don't want either to play Spider-Man. I think they already cast the role right, they just did a lot of other stuff wrong...but then again I'm not really a fan of the character.
