Goonies - teaching kids everywhere that it's okay to make fun of child obesity

In all seriousness, what the hell? One of my pet peeves about blu-ray has been how big extravagant boxset releases has been the only way to get several movies (casablanca, Gone with the wind, wizard of oz, matrix, spiderman, most trilogies for that matter etc.). Now it's true most of the ones I mentioned now have individual releases now but why should we have to wait even further just to get a basic edition?

USA Where's the junk?

This kind of sucks. I 100% want this but the junk really isn't that great. Two mags, some cards, and a board game? Come on guys. How about a poster of the map? Give me something. I guess I'll see what the price point ends up being. I think it's worth paying $30.

I do want to add Goonies to my collection, but will wait for the single disk release. I am not interested in all the clutter. As some have suggested, perhaps Target will have a plain jane release.

I'm now seriously considering just importing and being done with it. Even if Target gets a standalone version, it'll probably retail for $25 bucks, if Gremlins is any indication. Right now, the UK version goes for $13.95 (US dollars) + shipping. And it gets high marks by most people.

I would go for it. I picked up a copy and could not have been happier. It looks and sounds great!

Holy smokes! I don't want all of that stuff! I just want the movie and the extras. What's with all the stuff that comes in the box?

Please tell me there will be a stand-alone disk.
Shoot. Maybe I'll import it as well.

Chances are pretty good they'll release a standalone version eventually though right? How long do you think that might take? I'm definitely going to wait for that....don't need all that other useless crap.

I may do that, but if they're going to release a standalone version a month or so later I might as well just wait.

Or Target or Walmart will have a standalone release. Like they have every other time.

Amen to that. I'd buy a special swag-laden edition if it came with a good-quality, full size reproduction that you could put up on the wall. (Bonus points for including the musical notes on the back.) How cool would that be?

The UK edition has all the extras and they play fine on my TV. For about $16 shipped its worth it.
