I applied the firmware update and watched the section with Weezer playing. No change! I was hoping since there were two updates within a month they fixed the issue. Now let's hope Transformers doesn't have issues.

I turned on my Blu-ray player last night & the update showed up. I went ahead & let it install. I'll run Cars 2 & maybe Toy Story 3 (Both have same looping issues) to see if its fixed.

So I'll report on the BD-D6500 by this time tomorrow. My hopes are not that high after reading the recent replies. Still I'll check. Why my update didn't show untill late last night IDK? Maybe because mine is set for auto download?

News to follow~

I don't have this particular model, but often in cases like this you need to erase the player's persistent storage as well as apply the update.

Still see the update there from September 2011. There is a d5500 update from mid January. A have a c6900 and c7900 neither of which like Cars 2 3D.

Thailand Fix for BD D6900

I have been following this thread ever since I got issues with the Cars 2 3D disc and as many others have slowly been giving up on Samsung. Just on a lark I decided to check for updates for my BD D6500 player last night and lo and behold there was a 1023 firmware update (the 1022 update apparently didn't fix anything for me). After applying the update I watched the first 30 minutes of Cars 2 in 3D without any hiccups. Since it was rather late I didn't check the whole disc, but I remember that there were at least 6+ glitches in the first half hour before, so it looks for the moment that for my player the issue seems to be fixed.

I don't own any of the other discs with issues (holding off buying them), so I can't check those disks but I will do a full view through of Cars 2 as soon as I get back from errands I have to run this morning. I will report back later.

Note that the firmware update doesn't show on the Samsung web-site I got it through the player itself.

Thailand Confirmed fix

I just finished watching Cars 2 without any glitches at all. Just hope that it's not just Cars 2 they fixed, but at least my son will be happy to finally be able to enjoy the movie in 3D!

Looking forward hearing from others if the latest firmware also fixes Glee, TS3 and other titles with issues.

Good news. I sent both Cars 2 and Toy Story 3 back to Amazon for a refund. Now I'll have to decide if I like them enough to repurchase.

<Slow Clap>

11-01-2011 to ruffly 02-12-2012, so basically 3.5. Months it "appears" that 1023 has done the fix!

Either Samsung was full of idiots for programmers or they just didn't give a crap? I really don't know, but this update was the smallest & fastest firmware update to date! I too went though 15 minutes of Cars 2, it made it that long then I unhooked the POS & put it back in to 2D player "mode", meaning It's in the bedroom & has been demoted as inferior equipment. ALL other manufacturers pulled through & listened withing days, DAYS of release & issues.

Only Samsung users had to call, email, use online support, reset there players, call & leave messages on Executives phone lines, talk with programmers, talk with the tech department, & basically get blamed initially as having "bad" disks. I returned 3, cars 2 & two Toy Story's.

So "great" job Samsung. Not only have I bought my last Samsung Player, but my last Samsung product!

I'm glad I'm an Adult w/ a 10 y/o kid & could go buy a Panasonic to play my 3D films, but I truly feel for the families with little ones who were so excited & saved up to buy the 3D films & got stiffed.

At least I can lay this thread to rest. Until the next problem Samsung has. Sadly, I WAS a diehard Samsung lover before this... The only good news, I lost my bet that at 6 months we still wouldn't have a fix! So i'll give samsung that!

I know some may read this & say I'm coming off as harsh, but if you've read all 5 pages (or all the posts) you would understand!

This was rubbish. Complete rubbish, a 3D player that didn't play 3D yet no returning it past 30 days (45 for BB premier members). <slow clap failed>

Default Finally Fixed

Finally fixed (1.023), almost 2 months since we got the DVD for X-mas. Can not believe it took so long.

Also one of the lenses of a pair of 3D glasses just broke while watching the movie. Carfully took the glasses off then when I went to put them back on it looked like I just got a "Moe special"

Last time I will buy a Samsung product.

OMGoodness, I know it's off topic a bit, but I have 6 pairs of shutter glasses (Samsung 3100GBs), I actually love them, but one pair already has this crack, type peel?? It's screwed up!

I can't believe I stopped back by this thread, but glad I did. Why is it that the "El cheapo" type equipment ie, not huge brand names: have no issues? Lol?

Default Design flaw??

Quite possibly a design flaw in the product, when I went back to the store I purchased them at (less than 1 year ago and only after a handfull of uses) I see they no longer stock that style (sunglasses design 3100GBs). This new style that I had to get was the (GB3050) similar to polarized glasses you get at Disney when you see their 3D movies. If you wear glasses, this new design work much better (but you have to take the nose peice off)

While they seem cheaper at first, I think they will be fine and probably will hold up better.
In my case after showing all my sales recipts for the purchase of a Samsung UN55D7000, Samsung 5500 DVD player, smaller samsung TV, 2 wall mounts, and 4 pairs of glasses, and some grief they gave me a replacement set free. I will NEVER shop at that store again.

Did anyone ever have any luck on the Vizio VBR133? I just bought this movie and it stutters until the 23rd minute where it freezes completely. I think my firmware is up to date. Toy Story 1-3 also stutter throughout the movies as well. Highly annoying.

Sorry to bump this thread, but I had a nasty lock-up that repeated all 4 times I tried to reproduce it. It happens around the 48 minute mark, I think, skips the Paris scene entirely, and the next playable portion is when Mater is getting his new designs from Shiftwell.

I guess I should be thankful that this is the only part it happens on as far as I could tell, and not throughout the whole film like some people are suggesting

I'm playing on a PlayStation 3, latest firmware..

I had trouble with this and Toy Story 3 when they first came out. Got tired of waiting for a fix and sent them back to Amazon and haven't looked back. That was 3, 3D TVs and one 3D BD player ago.

But I don't want to give it up for good. What I saw of the 3D presentation (see: everything that wasn't the Paris scene), I was so amazed. It's one of my favorite 3D Blu-ray transfers thus far

So scared to hear about the Toy Story 3D films. I saw all of them in 3D in the theater, and the first two films were SO good in three dimensions. Loved them, and wanted to add those Blu-rays to my birthday list. But.. if they have these many glitches, and the problems are really this long-reaching, I'm scared

I have all three toy story 3D movies and Cars 2 3D. Every disc played flawless for me. What generation PS3 are you using. I stopped using my PS3 as a bluray player when I bought my first Oppo and one of the main reasons was due to the frequent lock ups I would experience with various discs.

It's uh... I have no idea. 300 GB Slim? I bought it last October to replace my dead 40 GB PS3

Interesting. This is the only issue I've ever had with my PS3 thus far. I'll keep an eye out for something else that goes wrong, just in case. But I can't really afford a standalone Blu-ray player right now
