Personally, I've ended up importing everything from Spain where, aside from the lack of English subtitles and some of the later, digitally-filmed seasons being in 1080i rather than 1080p, you can get everything. And, when I bought it, it was cheaper than the DVD set in the UK :S.
It seems a better option just emerged from Europe, specifically France:

looks like is a complete 1080p, price though is still prohibitive (in phase of pre - order...)

Love the Suchet Poirot series. But Marple is slightly better.

This is down to $198.49. I like it, but I have to be in a somber mood to watch it. If I'm feeling a little more aggressive I throw in Breaking Bad or something

Is there a bonus disk on the complete boxset of have they just screwed up the disk numbers.
My maths says the individual series releases total 27 disks but the boxset says 28 disks.
This assumes they use the new S12 version which is 2 dual layer disks compared with previous set 6 plus separate Murder on Orient Express which was 4 single layer BD.

Early (1-6) & Final (7-13) Case sets both list 13 discs. I'd like to know what the extra 2 are. I've got the Early set, but don't know if I should get the other, or sell it and buy the new complete set.

As I posted above you I think they are only 1 disk out so is this a bonus disk ? or a labelling error. We probably wont know until release

Taking data from the BD database here and my Early Years Boxset

S1 2 disks
S2 2 disks
S3 3 disks
S4 3 disks
S5 2 disks
S6 2 disks

Total 14 disks so the label on the Early Years Boxset is wrong stating 13 disks ?

S7 & S8 2 disks
S9 2 disks
S10 2 disks
S11 2 disks
S12 2 disks
S13 3 disks

Total 13 disks so the label on the Later Years Boxset is correct at 13 disks

Adding the Early Years Boxset and Later Years Boxset gives 14 + 13 = 27 but the Complete Collection states 28 disks.

Therefore 1 disk is unaccounted for or its a labelling error as with the Early Years box

I suspect the Early Years boxset combined S4 into 2 discs instead of 3, so I'd say 2 discs are unaccounted for.

My credit card just fainted from this Poirot set and the Batman set in November. But $198 is a good price, hopefully it drops to $150 or so.

I just ordered the set myself - can anyone tell me... is the "original U.K. broadcast order" the same as the true chronological order of the stories?

The stories don't really have continuity between them, most work as standalone stories with the same group of characters. The TV episodes are out of order compared to publication date of the novels.

An example is Murder on the Orient Express was held back as Suchet wanted it as a standalone feature film. When after many years they realised this would never happen they made it for TV.

Ok, just got off the phone with Acorn and can confirm that, despite a possible difference in disc count, the content of the Early/Final case sets is identical to the forthcoming Complete collection. No additional material has been added to the new bundle. So, if you're like me, and have the Early Cases set, you can safely purchase the Final Cases set without worry of missing out on any prospective new extras or bonuses, as there are none.
